What is the deal with the "non-orange" Camel interior? I did a search on orange camel but just get posts with people with "non-orange camel" in their signature line.

I've got an ABP/Camel coming in very soon (they said even maybe today) and now I'm wondering. Do some color/camel combos have a different camel color?? Is there a way to specify orange or non-orange interior?? Or is the real color just the luck of the draw or dye lot?

 

 

OK, here's the deal about this whole ORANGE thing and how it I think it got started.

The early camel interiors back in October, November were actually very orangy. I vividly remember seeing an Abyss Blue with Camel at a dealer back then and being turned off. Calling it orange instead of camel would have been more appropriate. I recall seeing a post somewhere in the forum about how Acura toned down the 'orangeness' in succeeding production runs. That seems to be the case.

 

1FasTL, DMZ summed it up perfectly. If you click on his link for wood dash pics it shows his camel interior (with extra wood) and see, no orange. Just wait, you will see the camel looks great with the blue.

 

The Camel may have started out orange - I can't verify that - but it sure isn't orange in my car. More like a toasty tan - darker than the parchment, much richer looking I think. Not a hint of orange, unless you think a sexy babe's warm tan skin looks orange.

 

Acura made a mid-year running change to the interior fabrics to make them far more beige than orange. It affected the headliner / pillar material, carpet, and mats. All cars delivered to dealers after 2/25 were affected.

Thanks guys!!! I was worried that I might be getting an orange interior. My wife had one in college in a Ford Escort. I think they called it "Pumkin". It was pretty gross........

I've seen the camel and it looks great with the blue. I tested a 6MT in that combo and thought it was the best (DGP/Camel was my other choice but they didn't have it and they did have an ABP was on it's way in). My 5AT should be here soon!!!!

 

Blue/Camel would have been my first choice for the TL if I hadn't been getting out of an '01 CL with a very similar blue. Gotta mix things up a bit. So for me it came down to Anthracite/Camel or Green/Camel. Both look great IMO.

 

What VIN#s should they have been at with cars being delivered by 2/25??
Can anyone with less orange interior post their VIN#s? Thanks. Doug

Heh heh. To each his own. I took one look at the Camel interior back in March and knew right away I wasn't settling for anything else.

 

Instead of a photo, do this:

Look at a current Camel interior in an Acura showroom. Close your eyes. Now think of it as more orange in color. See it now?
