Opinion request - side underbody spoiler only

I have a silver '05 TL, about 3 weeks old. I'm considering adding just the side underbody spoiler and not the rear or the front. I personally feel that the front and backs are a little "too racey" for me, maybe I'm getting old.

I have not been able to find any pictures of TL's with only the sides installed, I'm pretty its a rare configuration. I'm just looking for opinions on whether people think that would look odd, bad, good, etc. My initial concern is with the fact that since they taper out to give the car a wider look, since the OEM front and rear bumpers don't have that same flare, it might look mismatched. However, I really do like how the sides give the car a wider and lower "look".

Anyways, would like some opinions. Thanks!

In my opinion, it would look fine, although not really noticeable, as I find the skirts are the least noticeable of the aspec kit. That said, my 53 year old mother drives a tl with the apsec kit and decklid and 19 inch rims, so don't tell me you are too old !!! before that she had 2 s2000's. you are only old if you think that way haha

i dont think it's a good idea. if you dont want the aggressive look just dont add any underbody at all. just the sides will look a bit odd, i am sure!

I think the front spoiler makes the biggest difference to the look of the car, and agree just adding the sides will be barely noticeable at all.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I actually prefer the sides being barely noticable as I prefer something really subtle. However, looks like there's at least one opinion (tzakiel) that it would actually look odd, subtle or not!

If you end up doing the side skirts, post some pictures so we can see the difference.

Thanks in Advance and Good LUck!

I am putting on my A-Spec kit now on my WDP. Damn if I knew you were looking into this configuration I would have taken pictures for you before I put on my front lip. I have the front lip and side skirts on and will probably put on the rear lip later today. But yeah the side skirts are pretty unnoticeable. The just flare out a little more. Sides skirts would probably be pretty expensive too. About $310.

Well to add to this again, what I meant was that the side skirts on the OEM kit serve to transition between the aggressive front and back lips, so I think that adding them at a fairly high expense would serve little aesthetic purpose. They don't really add much visually, but they do make the OEM kit look "right" especially in certain light where you can see the flare.

If you're only going to do the sides .... save the $ as to it won't look right, if it's noticed @ all!
Especially if you're not going to put on the fr. chin ......

I love the fr. chin, it's gotta be one of the best fr. chins available.

This board has great members. Thanks for all the inputs. I think I've been convinced by the masses that installing just the side skirts will not be very noticable at all and not worth the $$. Maybe when I get bored of the un-mod'd look, I'll go for the whole kit at that time. Now I have to figure how else to spend my TL money in the mean time

I agree... get the whole thing or don't get anything at all. It will just be a waste of money.
