one touch starting...

am i the only one who didnt know i had this feature on the 07....i just read it on the tqi service bulletin...states that you just turn the key and let it go and the starter will continue to run until the car starts...its pretty cool, but i dont know if i can retrain myself to not hold the key until the car starts...

On the newer ones I believe the starter is ECU controlled; the key isn't actually cranking the starter, it's just telling the ECU to start the car.. shouldn't matter if you hold it down until it starts [our 03 4Runner does the same thing and I hold it down until it starts, then get told "hmm.. your expensive Acura doesn't start itself?"] hehe

Does this finally put an end to starter grind when people attempt to start an engine that is already running ? Anyone care to test this ?

I wish the 06s did that too; however, it's not a big deal. As someone else posted above, what could you really do in those two seconds? But maybe it is better for the ignitor itself to just push it instead of holding it down...?

i think this feature is quite lame and old school. I'm already putting the key in and turning the key, i can hold it for a sec or two to start the engine. But I guess, it keeps people from over cranking. I was disappointed with the feature in my 08 TLS.

Even in my last car, infiniti fx35, I had a key fob with no key, the fob never left my pocket, and you start the engine with a simple switch, or in g35/37//m35/45 with a push of a button.

I wish Acura added these refining luxury touches and not just a tease, especially with calling it a One Touch Start

Before I read the manual I sat in the car like a moron searching for the miracle start button, lol

It's useful because it prevents over cranking, and since [i think] it's now ECU Controlled you cannot double start the car, might also have something to do with the car being able to keep emissions under control... [there's a part in the manual about the car taking longer to start sometimes due to emissions control / vapor control devices..]

Actually it's very similar to steering wheel controls; every time I step into my old beater I find myself constantly flicking my thumbs at the steering wheel when a bad song is on

I guess i'm the only one that doesn't like push-button start...The TL has enough buttons and gadgets, I want to do something manually.

This feature is only on automatic transmission models...
I have an '07 TL-S with a 6 speed stick, and I still have to hold the key until it starts.

Can't tell you how many times I've gotten into my POS 94 F-150 and barely turned the switch expecting the thing to start after driving the TL or 4Runner...lol
Don't know what would happen if engine was already running and the switch was activated..somebody with a lease try it out and let us know what happens

can this be done on a MT? but you would still have to keep your foot on the clutch?

I like this feature, although I admit that several times now I've had to drive my wifes six year old VW New Beetle, and I turn the key and release it only to have the engine turn over once then stop dead. What's worse is that to try to start the engine again you have to turn the key all the way to off, pull it out a bit, then put it back in and start all over again.

The Beetle is a real POS, in my opinion, and my ten year old Saturn SC2 was better behaved and a better deal than anything I've seen by VW lately. Luckily, the TL is even better!

But yeah, good feature, and I don't miss a push-button start like I thought I might.

+1. I tried this on mine, and it didn't work! I thought something was wrong, but I'm glad to find out otherwise.
