One dealer option I opted for

In purchasing my tl, i was given the option of purchasing a lifetime oil change package for $341. They even wash and vacuum your car.

your thoughts?

Good option I think but it will cover for 15-18 oil changes if you go by market rate. That is say 60K miles. However washing will not be good for 8 months where you live. j/k I was in Minneapolis before 1996.

lol, yep. cars get salty and rusty FAST around here. That's why you HARDLY ever see old vehicles around here.

i think the dealer made that package up to ensure that you come back to them for oil change. kinda like signing a 2 year contract for cell phone service. 15 changes equate to about 45000 miles if you go by the 3K rule. so any oil changes after that will make it a good deal. or you could also bring it in every 2K and make them change it. i dunno why someone would do that but since its free you can change the oil more often to get your money's worth. but the thing about the TL is that the MID doesn't always say change the oil at 3K. most people here are getting somewhere between 5-6K before it says oil change. if they make you go by the MID then 15 oil changes comes out to about 75-90K miles. do you plan on keeping the car for the duration of that mileage? to me personally it doesn't look like a great deal just making you pay up front for oil changes. i always ask them NOT to wash or clean my car for me when i take the car in for servicing. they leave a million swirl marks with their dirty towels. i dun mind the vacuuming part but i am more anal and i prefer to do it myself. if you have a NBP car watch out for those swirl marks.

My thoughts exactly: What is your dealers oil change interval according to your contract?? If its something like "no less than every 3000 miles", thats good. But if they say at 20% or less on the MID,,, you might have paid for something you will never use..

Let us know if it has a "min interval clause"...

Congrats on the TL

seems like a good deal if you keep the car long...

I guess I got lucky,
the dealer gave me a certificate for 12 free oil changes + car washes...

oil changes every 3000 miles or 4 times year, the MID oil life does NOT apply here in the great frozen state. REGARDLESS of make of car, if you don't change it every 3000 miles you will shorten the life of the car.
