Old Noob returns

Just wanted to (re) register and pay my greetings. Been visiting the boards for a long time now and I've finally got my chance at getting a 3rd Gen TL (which is the best looking one imo)

Going to pick up a Deep Green Pearl / Camel Leather CPO Navi 2004 TL on Saturday and must admit I am very excited. Trading out my 97 TL with 182K miles, which, as much as I wish I could keep it, I have to let go because of limited parking space in my apartment.

Will post picts shortly.

Many thanks to all on here for the warm welcome. I will post some picts shortly.

@ DMZ - mine is an auto tranny with 49K Miles.

Btw I had a question, with a CPO, what benefits do I get? since this is an 04 that was first registered to the previous owner in Aug, the 4 year warranty has now expired. But the CPO I know extends the Powertrain to 100,000 Miles. Is there any other benefit of the CPO?

WTF does CPO stand for?

Anyway, the 1st thing you need to do is change that rear stabilizer bar with the Progress one at 24mm.

Congrats on the upgrade. Do you mean you can't keep the old one because you can't keep it and the new one? The way I read it first was that you were looking for a new car because you didn't have room to park your old one anymore.

Apologies for being inconcise. I am not getting much in terms of trade-in value for my old car and to me, its' worth much more than I'm getting for it. I've had my TL since 2000 and it's been the most dependable ride I've owned. Other than brakes, tires, rotors, battery and recently a new starter, everything to date is original Acura equipment. The engine just PURRS like a little kitty.

Sadly, due to parking space limitations (each apartment where I stay is alloted 1 spot and I bought an SUV for the wifey a couple of weeks ago). So I am forced to give it up. If I had the space to park it, I would have kept my older TL until the engine fell off.

The standard rear stabilizer bar on that car is 17mm thick.

Swapping it out for a thicker one like the one I have, http://www.ct-engineering.com/store/product412.html, or a more popular one these days made by Progress will SUBSTANTIALLY improve handling in any kind of turning situation and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face once you feel the difference.

I returned last year (08 TL-S) had and 04 TL, then a '05 G35, then a 07 350Z. The Z was the fastest, but I like the TL-S as an overall drive.

This transaction is turning out to be quite the nightmare I didnt expect it to be. They're nickel and diming me to get whatever little they can. Doc Fees of $389 and a "out of state title transfer fee" (or something to that effect) of $20. I know doc fees are charged but $389 from Jersey? Any they aren't even registering the vehicle since its a used car out and will be registered in a diff state that needs a vehicle inspection certificate first. I just bought a Lexus a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't any "out of state title transfer fee". Is this a legit charge?

encryption,

If those pics are the car you're getting, then your new interior is parchment, not camel. Sorry.

Click on Woodash Pics on my signature below for camel pics.

I have the EXACT same car that you got, minus the navi, and when I bought mine from the Acura dealership... the salesman said the color is deep emerald metallic. Is that wrong?

The car is a dream, I knew it would be a wild jump from my 97TL to this one but I didn't anticipate falling so much in love with the vehicle from the get go. Other than a buying experience that has still left me with mixed emotions, the car is STELLAR. Definitely a proud new papa

btw does anyone know why my Blackberry will not stay connected to the Handsfree Link? Each time I connect to it, drive, turn off the vehicle and get back into it, it doesn't autoconnect. I have an 8700G phone.

You should find out if the car ever had the HFL module replaced. If not, and the last 5 digits of your VIN are between 00001 and 69734, they should replace it for you NO CHARGE.

Also look at your BB. When you get back into the car and turn it on, the BB should ask you if you want to connect to Handsfree Link TM. There should be a check box for "Don't ask me again". Check the checkbox, then say "Yes" for it to connect. Then it should do it everytime.

Otherwise, see above me...

Actually I think I may have gotten it fixed. Some Aziners recommended I disable encryption and the last 2 times I have driven the car, it connected automatically.

@ DMZ, how are the tires you have in your sig. I think I have Toyo's that may need replacing before 2009 ends and while I am sure there maybe newer models out by then, I'm just checking to see what brand All-Seasons are worth looking into.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S's are terriffic! I'm on my 2nd set and they cruise over the snow just fine.

http://www.goodyeartires.com/eagle/eagleF1AS_innov.html

There have been a few complaints about them on this forum, but those are typically from those who put on 19" wheels, something this car really wasn't designed for.

Thanks for the tip.

My VIN is 68728. I guess I should find out if my HFL module was replaced. I did have a nightmare trying to add new numbers recently. Where will I get this info if the HFL was replaced? Would it be recorded at http://owners.acura.com ?

All you can do is go to the dealer's service dept. complaining about HFL issues with a printed copy of the TSB in hand.
