OK, OK...another lip spoiler question
OK, OK...another lip spoiler question
I'm sure I'm not the only new TL owner thinking about adding a spoiler. I have the new ride for a few weeks now and would like to add tint and possibly a lip spoiler. Has anyone added the lip spoiler after taking delivery and how much did you pay?. I think it retails for around $319. Does that include installation also?
$319
$319 is the cost for part only. In calling around before buying my TL, 3 dealerships in Dallas quoted 2.5 hours of labor to install ($80 per hour). Everyone knows it probably takes 20 minutes or less to install. As for tint, don't go cheap. Spend the extra money to get a good quality metal or ceramic tint (LLumar, Huper Optik, etc...) If you go with a dyed film, you will be replacing in 4-5 years (bubbles and turns purple). Hope this helps.

I already had everything installed when I bought my car (the spoiler and body kit) and now I am going to get tinting done this Thursday...but your question regarding the deck lid spoiler, IT LOOKS NICE!!! BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE CAR...originally the car looks chunky from the back but with the addition of the DECK LID SPOILER, it looks SWEET...and installing it isn't hard...I think all you have to do is just get 3m tape and just do it yourself...from what I understand, they don't nail that in or anything, they just use 3M tape...since it doesn't have a brake light or anything else, it just gets glued on...hope that helps...so if u get it for cheap, just do it on your own...it shouldn't be that hard...
Metallic
I have read that metallic film can interfere with the navi. I went for the Huper Optic for 2 reason.
1. Around 10% better heat rejection that metallic films. Every little bit helps in Texas.
2. The film is ceramic based and will not interfere with navi.

It is about $100 more than LLumar Centuar. Hope this helps.

You're wrong about just sticking it on. I purchased the spoiler from Ray Laks and installation requires drilling 2 holes in the trunk lid. The double sided foam tape is already on the underside of the spoiler but there are also two studs that go through the deck lid. I had the dealer install mine Friday, $212 for installation.

sorry about that then...i just didn't see those screws/bolts...since the deck lid is small, i figured and assumed that it would be like the M3's and certain 3 series BMW where they would just stick it on...i apologize and i take back what I said...but it's a nice looking spoiler though!!!

Why does this have to be drilled? If the one on the BMW is just stickered on, I would imagine the same thing could be done with the Acura version. I would rather go this route than have two holes drilled in my trunk.
