I just hit 3000 miles, and have 40 percent oil life left. I do mostly urban driving. Does that sound about right?

Thanks

Yep, that's about right. And I would change it about now. The first change should be earlier than the MID interval to rid the engine of any manufacturing contaminents. I would also use Havoline or Chevron 5w-20 oil and a Mobil or Purolator filter. Search will give you scads of info on this topic.

Yes, I did mine at 4000 miles and 30% due to 95% city driving and short trips over a six month period. I was down almost 2 full quarts of oil - hardly anything at the bottom of the dipstick after the car sat in my garage overnight.

What is your oil level?

You need to check your oil more often. It should be caught long before its two quarts down. Shame on you!
