I got this message on the MID yesterday, so today I took it to the dealer and they did the first oil change.

Mileage Today : 5560
Purchase Date: Nov-17-2003

This morning, after changing the oil and
fixing a broken rear A/C vent (under warranty),
the dealer returned the car without resetting the MID.

I called the service rep and he said he doesn't know how to do this on this new model, but that he would get back to me...

I'm still waiting...
and driving...


Does anybody know how to reset the OIL LIFE meter back to 100% ?


tonight, I also noticed fog/humidity in my left headlight! -
it's 40 degrees today. I wonder if they can fix that...too

on the mid with the little envelope screen showing, Press and hold the reset button for about 20 seconds and it should rest . This worked on my car.

BtW I didn't lik the fact i couldnt get any info until I reset the light. i.e. miles , temp

Without that little envelop screen, you can do it too.

Anyone could go to your oil life screen anytime, and press/hold RESET button for at least 10 seconds. You will have the choice to reset your OIL LIFE.

First of all, your A (or B) mileage will be reset in the beginning, then keep holding that button, you will see options of OIL LIFE.


This seems to be the only way to reset it while you like to change your own Oil & Filter in 3k or 5k span without asking dealers to reset for you. (This could be the only reminder system we can reset earlier before the envelop icon displays... for exmple, if we try to change tranny oil or rotate tires early without following the reminder, the MID for these two will never be correct b/c we cannot call out these two screens, except you ask dealers to reset for you at the same time.)



BTW, you can try to press/hold other screens of MID for 10 seconds, you may see other features...

OUTSIDE TEMP can be adjusted between +3 and -3
OIL LIFE can be reset

Hint for humidity in the head Lamp. Pop one of th lamps out. Blow on the lens with a hair blower till condensation goes away. Replace bulb and ensure all other sealed connections are snug.
