Oil leaks on Acura/Hondas?
I've been a life-long Subaru owner and my family has always had second-hand Subees. Love the cars, but they always leak oil from like 150k onward, thus fueling my borderline OCD when it comes to checking oil.
My question is this:
Can I expect the same from my TL when it reaches that age? It has been well maintained and I use Mobil 1 with very regular oil changes. No symptoms yet. Just changed the oil and it appears to NOT have burned or dripped even an ounce. Still, just wondering if this is something I should expect when she hits 150-175k miles.
Thanks all and Happy 4th!

I haven't seen any issue with an oil leak here due to a gasket failure. As well I haven't seen anything about consuming oil with high miles. Keep up with maintenance and you'll be fine! MMade has over 200K on his TL!

95K miles on my 04. Change oil every 7500 miles, never down more than 1/2 qt at oil change time.

The Subaru engines with their design will have a tendency to leak everywhere, especially the older models:
Head gasket O-rings
Cam case O-rings
Valve cover gaskets
Oil pan gasket
rear main seal
front main seal
cam seals
oil pump seal
oil pump gasket
Most common leaks are the valve covers and oil pan
You'll not find this in the TL

Almost 146,000 miles here on my '04 TL and no oil leaks. The only time I thought I had an oil leak, it turned out to be the place that changed my oil didn't put the drain plug on correctly. I'm not really even seeing it burn oil - not to any appreciable degree anyway.

More fluid changes will help seals last longer. Rubber gaskets (like on the water pump or valve covers) don't go as long as the shaft seals (like cam and crank seals). I just has a TSX in with 110K what had immaculate engine internals but was leaking at the valve cover due to the age only.
Just keep an eye on things, leaks should not become an issue at all with your good maintenance!

93,000 here. No leaks. It does not burn a measurable amount of oil. I run Redline 5w-30 and checking it parked in the same spot everytime, after 5,000 miles the oil is at exactly the same spot on the dipstick as when I filled it. I've really gotten spoiled and should probably check the oil more often but it's usually right before I change it just to see if it's used anything.
Coming from the GN I was used to checking it everytime I put gas in the car and I did it with the TL when it was new until I was convinced it did not use oil.
There was one incident and it's very common and I did not believe it until it happened to me.... When I first switched to Redline it used half a quart in the first 500 miles. Really weird but it's never done it since then over nearly 30,000 miles.
