Which OIL DO YOU GUYS USE???
Trending Topics
I use Walmart generic 5W-30 that meets the API specification required, and the Fram super filter. I ran my Toyota Cressida for 20 years and 198,000 miles on the same oil and filters, and changed them every 5000 to 7500 miles. Never require any engine repairs, and ran fine when I sold it. I know, NOW COMES THE FLAMES AND BS.

Whether synthetic oil makes sense depends on how hard you push the engine. If you're not pushing the envelope, then generic oil will do just fine. But if you're driving at high speeds for extended periods of time in hot weather, for example, why not spend a few extra bucks to protect the engine?
Pschologically some people will get satisfaction knowing they have the best oil in the engine, even if it's totally unecessary. Other people will get satisfaction knowing they have .99/qt oil in the engine that, for them, is just as good as $8/qt stuff. To each his own.

As long as you use the weight recommended, change your oil frequently, and use a brand with the api symbol on it, you're covered. Heck, I prefer Havoline and that's what our dealership was using for 3 years. Tomorrow, though, we go Castrol Syntec Blend 5w20 and 5w30 in bulk.
We are making that change because of the new "service computers" in the cars. When everyone was changing their oil between 3000-5000 miles the brand didn't matter. The brand probably still doesn't matter, but I believe that the synth part does. I'm terribly afraid of what 10,000-12,000 mile oil changes are going to do to our cars and their resell value.
Just because GM, and Ford, and Chrysler are doing it doesn't mean that Honda should.
Every compare the resale value of a Cavalier to a Civic?
Sorry for the rant, as an Acura parts manager, I should be happy about the prospect of selling more engine parts.:p

Not to worry I dont think the computer will let you go that long. My first change was at 7500 whichc was the previous milage interval when there was no computer.

i changed (2nd gen)mine every 7k or so and now have bumped it up to 10k since switching to syn. had the oil tested and it was still in great shape. honda engines are assembled better than there american counterparts. so running higher mileage on the engines between oil changes (if its quality oil) shouldnt hurt a thing. oh and i have 136k on my engine, and every thing is in great shape. compression tested damn near new levels on all 6 cylinders

That's a good way to put it.
