i have two questions:

1. i got my first oil change/A1 service a couple months ago @ about 6500 miles, i think it was the middle of january. my mileage right now is currently at 10200 and the sticker the acura dealership put up says the next oil change should be 10200 or 4/17/2007. but my MID says that there is 50% oil life left. should i get an oil change right now or do i wait until the MID says to get an oil change?

2. i hate getting oil changes every 3 months. is there an oil that i can buy that will go for a long time that i can give to the dealer to use for the future so that i dont have to get oil changes as frequently?

I wait until the MID tells me to change it.

Honda recommends oil changes every 7500 miles on most of their cars...the MID has me change my oil every 6000 miles or so.

The dealership just wants to make a few extra bucks.

 

Follow the Maintenance-Minder System ( MID ) for all routine service work. The three month oil change rule is a myth. I spoke with a Acura Case Manager about this a couple of weeks ago and he told me to always go with the Maintenance-Minder System ( MID ) unless it's an emergency.

Not so much a repost as a duplicate thread. I deleted it because no one had posted in it yet.

 

My last oil change was around 28k, and I'm at 34k now... I still have 30% left according to the MID... I do have Mobil 1 syn with an M1-110 filter... For what its worth, I should be able to get 8k-9k miles before the next change...

 

I keep a log and use either Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntech.........and If I happen to go over 5k , no worries as I can go up to 7.5k as these are synthetic....
