Sorry if this has already been covered.

i searched and searched but could not find what I'm looking for.

Here is my question.

When should I do oil changes?

Acura says to follow the MID, its been 9 months, and 4000km, and my MID only shows 50%.

My other car, Nissan Murano, Nissan says to do an oil change every 6000km or 4 months. which I follow religiously so they can't void my warranty if something happens.

But with Acura, "Just follow the MID" - is this thing accurate?

I called a dealership and asked if I can come in for an oil change, they asked me what the MID says. I told them at the time - 70% (6months) and they said no.
"Wait til the MID tells you to."

Any help is appreciated

Normally on a new Acura- you wait for the MID at 7500 miles
but if you are barely driving the car- many short trips etc, go ahead and take it in.
There are additives in the factory shipped oil for break in and thats why they want to leave it for a while.
9 months- I would do it based on time

its not new...i got it used last Aug.
since then only 4000km driven. total on car is 31000km.
so since last aug, till now, still showing 50%

The search feature has a requirement of at least 4 letters in the keyword to search. You can get around this by using the asterisk * to pad as one of the letters. Try searching with the keyword MID* or oil* and you'll find better results.
