Oil Change

I have an 05 TL AT/Navi that I just bought in May and was wondering how often people here change their oil. I was always told after the first 500 miles to change the oil on a new car to remove any metalic particles that may have come off during the break in period. My dealer told me that that is not necesary and that the car will tell me when its time to change the oil; in fact my dealer refuses to look at the car unless a code is displayed in the EMS. Right now, the oil life is at 60% and I have close to 4000 miles and have yet to change the oil; for some reason this make me concerned.

What do you guys do?

If you do a search you will find lots of threads and tons of info regarding your question (also don't have to wait for responses). It has been asked many times.

Just follow the MID, I say. I had the same % as you and now that I am over 5000 I am at <20% which seems right. It's designed to run for that long on the initial oil, so I say go with it.

It really doesn't matter, as it won't a difference in the overall life of the engine. Engines will shed lots of wear metals during wear-in, but the size of the metals aren't large enough to become abrasive. (or are caught by the FF) I'd personally change it between 3-5K.

The $7.99 special at Autozone for 5 qts of Exxon Superflo 5w-20 and a STP S7317 Filter would be a good special to take advantage of.

I know, its hard to leav it in, but in this day and age with the higher build tolerances on engines there is no need to change your oil early the first time.

Yeah, do a good search plenty of info, but I'd say just follow the MID.
