Yeah i jus scheduled mine for the A1 and the dealer very conservatively told me that they do loaners for Oil change and tire rotation. He did ask if i was 21 and up and he is going to take a look at the my insurance card. Also he gave me an appointment for next tuesday which is like 8 days from now. So plan ahead, good luck.

When I was negotiating the price for my TL, the car dealer told me that during servicing they give loaner car. But, when the time came for my first service, they added a clause that only if the service requires more than 2 hrs, they will give a loaner.
I fought with the dealer and the service department but they are not ready to listen.... Wish I could call some number and complain about this.

Don't know. There's no way I would let a dealer do my oil changes.. I do them myself.

Just had my first oil change and A1 done @ Pohanka. No loaner because the service only takes about an hour.

For most people, the dealer is fine. However, I agree with SouthernBoy and yes, several reasons.

1. I know it's being done right.
2. Someone's not joyriding in my car.
3. More convenient for me to do it.
4. Faster for me to do it.
5. Self-respect........haha (I love cars)
6. I know what oil is going in there.
7. I know for a FACT the filter has been changed.
8. Some grease monkey doesn't have the chance to bang my car up in the parking lot. (it's happened)

C'mon, how hard is it to turn a wrench? And if you setup right, you don't even need a wrench. Filter only needs to be hand tightened and get a sure-drain for your oil bolt. No tools necessary!

All very good. I would also add:

6. I know what (and how much) oil is going in there.
9. I get a chance to visually inspect CV boots, steering rack, misc. fluid leaks, etc. before they become big problems.
10. Some nimrod doesn't have the chance to set on my seats w/ oil or grease on his pants (it's happened).
11. I'll be sure to tighten the drain plug more than finger tight, instead of finding it hanging by the last two threads alongside the road just outside nowheresville (it's happened).

My dealer picks up my car for all warranty and service and leaves me a loner. BTW I'm about 50 miles from the dealer.

My dealer works by appointment. If he gave me a loaner car for an oil change, I would have to make a u-turn about 5 miles from the dealer to go back and pick up my car. I had my first oil change done a few weeks ago and it took about 30 minutes total. I watched TV and had free coffee, sort drinks, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts while I waited. Total price $25.

If I need sevice thats going to take a much longer time, I can get a loaner by appointment or utilize their shuttle service which takes me home and picks me up. By the way, this is Gunn Acura in San Antonio and I didn't even buy the car from them.

To Intox1221;

Listen to ITL and gizzsdad. They took the words out of my mouth. Plus the fact it's MY car and I can do this in MY driveway or garage at MY leisure.. and I KNOW it will be done right with the parts I want to use.

And the intangible (not really, but it sounds that way). I don't want ANYONE driving or in my car that doesn't belong in there. Yes I know there are times when I have to bite the bullet with this, but I prefer to keep them at the minimum. For example, I would NEVER allow a valet to park my car. If I was going to somewhere where this was the practice, such as a wedding reception or the like, I would rent a car and not have to worry about it. But not my personal car. No way.
