Any CTS has over 1000 lbs on them so you've gotta be making way more power to keep up. Even that camaro without some heavy weight reduction probably has 1000lbs on him. But to pull the front wheels off the ground on a 2nd gear punch, that had to be a 450-500whp NA setup + some spray with some super sticky tires (easily a high 9 second@135-140mph vehicle with that power and traction). I am just speculating though... never seen a car that could pull the front wheels from a punch at that speed on a normal road (as opposed to a VHT'd sticky track). Even a modded V2 CTS-V may not handle that
+1, decently supported/typical ~350 whp ls1 rx shouldn't be doing lone ranger shit like that.

I thought this would be the place to add my story rather then starting a new thread....

So the story goes like this...

I get a phone call from my brother inlaw seeing if I want to race a m3. I was like what? His buddy, which is also my buddy, went to Los Angeles and picked up a 01 m3. My brother inlaw test drove it and said that I will be a good run for him. I was just like no way it's a m3! I'll get my @ss handed to me!

Well to make it short, we met at my buddy's shop because he wanted to dyno his m3, just a base run to see what he can do. We tested it on the dyno on a 3rd gear pull and he was able to pull a 285hp! We tested a 4th gear pull but I believe he has a limiter which prevented him from going above 6.5rpms. So with that being said we went off to test our cars. (btw: i've dyno'd my car before, same place and was able to pull a 265)

Onto the race. We meet where we wanted to race. First race I had my brother and another buddy in the car with me, the bmw had him and my bro inlaw. He would get me off the launch while I was spinning and beat me by two cars. I was like hmmmm, not bad! LOL. Second run, came around and dropped of all the passengers of both cars. He would get me of the launch again but I was able to gain little by little and was by his door the whole way. Came back again and had my bro inlaw drive the m3. We launched and he would then again get the launch on me. We stayed together the whole way and having him beat me by just a car!

I was pretty impressed with my car! I always just wanted to try one out to see where I stand, but to be this close to a m3. It just surprised me!

Well, that's my story. Believe it or not, it happened just this past weekend. It just made me love my car even more!
a little off topic, but speaking of BMWs. have you ever witnessed a TL-S 6MT w/ minor bolt ons BEAT a 335i w/ intake? uh...I have. Rather confusing, but he pulled about a car length from about 60 to 135. what-the-fu**.

No but I've witnessed an Accord have very surprising runs on 2 separate occasions. Oh wait, that was me

One was completely stock and outlaunched me from a dig. He stayed about 1-1.5 cars ahead, neither of us pulled AT ALL.

Another must've been stock as well with wheels and I started creeping on him at speeds I will not mention.

Both were AT.

Fail.
You know why this post is a fail? Because you didn't record the race. -_________________-

lol jk. I'm honestly rather impressed by the TL-S 6MT. So much so that I would consider one buying to replace my current TL if I had the money.

*Edit: Has the TL-S been to the track? What did it run?

Had a newer Volvo hatch punch it in front of me. He was about a 1/2 car length ahead of me. He held his ground till I shut down. It was a quick run though; 25-50ish.

Later on that day, I was at a light waiting to make a left turn and I noticed a bike behind me. So we make our left onto a 3-lane road. I'm in the center lane and he's in the left lane. I put the car in L and pace him up to about 25mph. As soon as he looked over at me, I punched it. Well I guess homie don't play that cause he passed me like it was nothing and pulled a couple car lengths before he shut down. We both slowed back down, gave each other a head nod and thumbs up, and went our separate ways.

Doesn't surprise me that much. People put stock 335's too high up on a pedestal, imo. I drove an '07 automatic last summer and beat on it pretty hard. Down low it was torquey as hell, and would pull my car pretty good, but from a 50-60 roll it didn't feel heaps faster than my car. I'm around 3430 lbs and probably 240-245 whp and that particular 335i is roughly 3600 lbs and around 275 whp. I may try to set something up after I get my HFC's and P/P my intake and runners.

ill add a few. i had a debagged 08+ mercedez beat me ones he was toying around with me on a blvd one night and then we finally got to a red light and he got next to me i thought maybe it was a s 500 or something and since they are so big i thought i had a shot. so we hit it at the green light and to no surprise he pulled away. put like 2 cars b/w us till he let go. next light i asked and it was a s 63 amg.

i have also lost to a 2008+ m5. i really just wanted to see the guy punch it on the freeway, and he did pulled away hard from a 70 mph roll. the dude had a scared look on his face.

i have lost to my buddies 98 mustang gt (he has intake and straight pipes)

i guess a co-worker on his stock 04 mustang gt beat me too but i was pulling on him
untill we hit like 110 mph on the freeway thats when he passed me. so i was happy to
be pulling on him until 110mph.

The S63 is a MONSTER. I doubt he was even pushing it when he pulled away by 2 cars. He should've put interstates on you, lol.

Erick, we'd probably have a pretty good run. I think you may get me top end though.

Type-DM, Some of us are quick, but still not fast lol. It's just the awe factor: "Huh, an Accord?" Lol.

haha I have gotten that one before. The best part is when they ask what the hell I have done to my car and when I tell them just basic Intake and exhaust work they don't believe me.

LOL... He could do it driving in sand, no less! That basically proves how easy it is.

Our FWD V6 cars can be fast for what they are, but in the grand scheme... just quick like you say. Still fun nonetheless, especially when you surprise someone who was absolutely certain they were going to leave you looking stupid. My favorite "surprised" looks so far have been from modded 350Z drivers. Oh the look on their face when they lose to the 4 door FWD granny car version of their own... priceless.

You sure it was an X Type? Their little entry level car? Those were pretty slow.
