Obnoxious Door Closing....

Is it me, or does the 2 front doors on the TL not want to stay open? If you push them all the way out..they will stay. But it just seems that their should be a damn indent. Every time I open the door, it keeps slamming shut on me. Am I nuts? Or does this happen to others?

Yes, it sucks, plain and simple.

But, every time a babe checks out my car (almost daily), somehow I forget about this issue! :lol2:

The TL's doors have TWO indents, where every other car I have ever driven only has one indent, so it stops halfway open. With the TL, the first stop is not open enough to get in or out easily. Outside, the second stop works well, but in my garage I don't have enough room to get to it so I am in between stop 1 and 2, so it is always closing on me.

I would like to figure out a way to use the rod with the stops in it from the rear, with only one stop, which would work better for me. Maybe some day I will work on this.

But the doors work so well. If you just nudge the front door past the first stop, it will close itself without having to push it hard, which I like. Can't have everything, eh?

Open doors carefully and gently, it will stop in the indent. Otherwise, you just provide extra energy for doors to bounce back.

I kind of like it that way. I open the door with a moderate push, get in, and the door closes by itself! - you need to synchronize you move with the door swing.

I can see people wanting to modify the number of stops or how far they go so they don't touch other cars, etc. it would be a nice mod.
