NSX done

Apparently Acura is terminating NSX production at the end of the year.

I know this is the TL forum but wasn't sure where else to post.

Sad to see it go, especially because there is no successor planned. So long, NSX; you will always be one of my dream cars and a reality someday.

Oops - sorry - was afraid of that.

Funny, I did a search on all forums first for NSX, but didn't get any hits. But that's kind of odd too, isn't it?

Read the link, "Acura is developing a new sports car to succeed the award-winning NSX supercar." so your dream will eventually live on.

Wall Street Journal had a great business article on the NSX a few years ago. The Honda accounting and business folks disliked it since the logistics and production area needed no where justified the very limited production rate and revenue. However the most (but not all) of the Honda exec's still wanted a premere sportscar flagship.

Last time I heard, Takeo cancelled the HSC project because he wanted to concentrate on the truck division, not to mention Honda lost 800 million dollars during the production of the NSX. But if they are producing a new one, then that is good news. I love the NSX.

i dunno if it's smart business wise to invest in another nsx, not many people are willing to drop 90K on a honda. i know it's one of the best sports cars out there but it's a big risk financially for honda.

NSX is an exotic car. I love to see them on the road, but would never buy one. I think NSX is too slow for that price range. I love the NSX, but hate to see it go.

I think the new Acura sports car would be around $60k with a 350+ hp V-6 and nsx-r handling capabilities.....don't ask what's my source, I made it up.

Hey it's even official now

Current NSX production was 125 cars for the first half of 2005 so yeah it's been a financial heartache to say the least.

I think you are mistaken about your #s.

The NSX did not make a profit over its life if you include the substantial development costs. I believe the total cost, including development, was $800 million, with the actual 'loss' being far less than that.

ICBW.

I remember reading an article a while back stating that there was an $800 million loss.

$800 is a big loss, I would've dropped the NSX from $50 million
