Angry Not a good weekend!!

First off let me say what a great forum this is. Lots of great info! I really needed to blow off some steam on Friday night/Saturday morning, but the forum was down. Needless to say I've cooled down since then. With that said here was my great weekend:

So, it's Friday night and my wife decides that she wants to go bowling. So, being the good husband that I am, I say OK. We call another couple and head up to the bowling ally (Brunzwick in Palatine,IL for you northwest suburbs TL'rs). We're drinking having a good time, blah blah blah. So, 1am rolls around and we decide to go to a bar. We finish up our last game and start heading out. I start walking up to my car and what do I see............my passenger side glass is shattered!! Are you f&*king kidding me! I open the door to see what's missing. They ended up stealing my Escort Solo radar detector, pair of leather golves, my wallet with all my credit cards, bluetooth ear piece and the damn change holder! Yes I know I should not of left my wallet in the car, but I really hate carring a wallet! And if your wondering, yes I left the detector out too. Back to the story.....we call Palatine police and my buddy goes inside to tell the manager at the bowling ally. My friend notices that there are a group of guys acting shady on the way back in to the bowling ally, (keep in mind it's 1am and not to many people are left) so he goes inside and reports this to the manager on duty. By the time he comes out these guys are already in there cars and ready to leave. Luckily my friend grabs the license plate numbers to both cars. 10 minutes later the cop arrives, he goes thru his routine asks what's missing, blah blah blah! He turns on his flashlight to see the damage........OH NO....what do I see this time..........a big gash on the door from the glass falling!! C'mon can this night get any better!!!! We give the cop the license plate numbers and ask the cop take fingerprints, cause you can clearly see fingerprints on the outside of the car, since I haven't washed it in quite a while and all the salt from a great storm was still on the car. He replies with "since you already touched stuff there is nothing I can do." WHAT, are you kidding me, of course your going to find my prints...IT'S MY CAR!!!!! I still have the license plate numbers and I plan to track these guys down and they better hope I don't see my radar detector in there car.

Damage: $350 for the window, $50-100 for the touch up on the door, $40 for re-tinting the window and $45 for the damn change holder!

Thanks for listening and sorry for the long post....I guess I'm still pissed off!

X

Sad to hear. There are so many assholes out there. Don't window tints help security by making the window harder to break and holding the chards if it does break ?

I am curious if your wallet was in plain view ?

Triggle- I agree there are alot of assholes who don't respect other people's property. And yes, the window tint does hold the window together so there was less glass chards, but the big peices that held together that fell outside the window were the culprets that scratched my doorMy wallet was in my middle console, out of sight. The only thing in sight was my radar and leather gloves.

ITL- Thanks for the sympathy. The $45 dollar quote for the change holder was from a Acura dealer.

sorry to hear your loss, always sucks when theft/damage of any sort happens to our own car. I've always wondered about the factory alarm that comes on those cars, I know there's no glass sensor/motion sensor, and it's just a door/hood and immobolizer. How many people actually upgraded their factory alarm?? I didn't do anything w/ my old Infiniti, but did upgrade the alarm on my old Mitsubushi 3000GT VR-4 to a fancy unit w/ glass/motion sensor w/ paging unit. I'm very careful about parking my car in sketchy locations, and usually put things in the trunk or center console storage so there's nothing exposed. But shit happens, and Murphy strikes at random times, and I've had dreams about people taking my stuff and damaging my car.

Good luck w/ the repair and claim.
