Noob with a TL-S

Hey All!

TL noob here....although we've owned Acuras in the past...my wife had an Integra RS coupe....great little car!

I've just pulled the trigger on a 2008 TL-S, 6M, black on black. It comes in on Feb 15.....can't wait!
Got a pretty good deal on it too with a fairly hefty discount...although we still pay way more than we should up here in Canada! Looked at BMW, Audi and the new CTS before this and all were fine cars but none combined the performance, looks, options and size that I was looking for until I saw the TL-S. I'm curious to see what the 4G looks like but after seeing pix of the new RL (just looks like a bigger Accord!), not too sure if Acura will have a nicer design than the 3G....we'll see.

Anyways, I'll post pix when I get it! (although it's not like you guys don't know what it looks like!!!

I'd like to ask how much you paid for the TL-S as I live in Toronto.

Finance? Lease?

Out The Door price....if you don't mind.

Thanks.

I'd rather tell you via PM but I apparently don't have the privilege yet.

Welcome to the Board and congrats! I'm sure you're counting down the days til delivery of the new car.

Regarding the new 09 TL, I think the new model with have the ugly shield across the front. The RL has it, the new TSX is getting it, I'm sure the TL will not be left out.

Yeah, thanks! I like those anthracite A=Spec rims like on yours but they are gawd-awful pricey up here! I tried to get a set thrown in as part of the deal but no go!

I'm very intrigued to see what they will do with the new TL. I was disappointed when I saw the new RL but the new TSX looks pretty good....I suspect it will go more in that design direction. Still gonna love my 3G TL-S though!!!

Yup...countin' the days....4 more sleeps!

Dammit!....my dealer just called and said that my car hasn't arrived yet from Toronto....so it won't be until mid-next week since Monday is a holiday here! Another few days of agonizing waiting....oh well! They are going to give me a loaner until then though....which is nice.

Gives me more time to think about mods....here's what I've come up with:

- 18" RJ Legend Graphites with GY Eagle F1 AS
- Comptech springs ( I only want a slightly lower ride height mostly to get rid of fender gap and tighten up the body roll a bit, not that it's too extreme stock...plus - I don't want to adversely affect anything else that neccessitates a camber kit...$239 for the kit up here!)
- Tint all round (not too dark)
- Get a set of snows for the OEM 17" rims (later)

That'll do it for now...

Order up the Progress 24mm RSB (Rear Sway Bar), it will replace the weak 20mm RSB from stock. You will notice a HUGE improvement in your handling. It costs like $130 - $140 + shipping and takes about 1 hour to install yourself, or have a shop do it 4 u.
**I found a set of Ebony-Chrome (darker finish) A-Spec wheels on Ebay for $1450 + shipping from an Acura dealer in California............still pricey, tho. Plus you have to buy tires!

x2 on the Progress RSB.

Is that pic in your avatar a photoshop or an honest to goodness Canadian Catfish?

Cool....I'll look into that as well...seems like large return/small investment mod...I love those!

I've seen the rims that you speak of from that ebay seller as well, but I was told that the A Specs don't fit the TL-S because of the big Brembo calipers? Doesn't seem right....

BTW Bearcat...that Canadian Catfish lives a tad too close to the Pickering Nuclear Plant!

how hard???

I just bought a 2007 Type-S and am loving it. After reading all the posts, I'm convinced changing the RSB isthe way to go. Just how difficult is it to change out the factory RSB and install the Progress RSB??? Will the Acura dealerships change install the Progress RSB for me? I'm not a gear head by any means and don't know if I have all of the tools to change it out. Thanks, in advance, for the replies.

Found one for $140 plus another $25 to ship to Canada. It looks like a fairly simply install.

Woohoo! Just picked up my new TL-S this afternoon! I'm in love! Went for an hour long spin listening for rattles or any other unsavoury noise....nothing. Tight as a drum!
The only negative I had is that the dealer didn't do such a great job of detailing the car for pick up...with the amount of $ that I had paid, I wan't it spotless when I pick it up. To make it up to me, they told me to bring it in whenver I want and they will give it a full detailing inside and out for free. So, I'm going to wait 'itl the weather clears up and then take it in. And they also have free carwashes!

Anyways...very happy with my new ride....let the mods begin!
