Noob..LED question

I hope this isn't a repost, i searched a few and most of them don't really answer my question!!!

Picked up my 05 TL 2 days ago, planning to replace the dome, door panel, license plate, backup, sidemarker light to LED, i searched up all the bulb numbers, but my only question is how many LEDs per bulb should I have in order to be bright enough and still fit inside the cover? the reason i asked is because i dont wanna end up buying something not bright enough or too big due to too many LEDs and won't fit.

thank you

I think we can welcome n00bs better than that. Or, if you'd rather, just ignore the post/thread.

You have a few options where to buy, V-leds.com or superbrightleds.com is where I usually buy mine.

Took off the 2825 5 SMD from my friend's car and want to try it to see if it's bright enough in my TL, it won't even fit in, i compared both of them, looks like the end of the aftermarket one is thicker than the OEM. any solutions???? i don't want to force it in

Don't force it in, try a different LED. I had this issue with some 74x LEDs being a bit too wide, used a Dremel to shave it down a bit and it worked. But your friend probably won't appreciate that. haha

These are the newer versions of the ones I have. Its a better board and cheaper from when I got it. turns your car into a space ship in the interior lol.

guitarplayer16 it may not seem like it will fit but it does just be careful when putting the covers back on don't push directly onto the LED board i was an idiot and some how snapped it the first time i put it in.

Also if you are gonna put it in the trunk it wont fit in the housing but just mount it on the lens. no one can see it anyway and the output is way better since the trunk cover is a bit thicker and hazier than the interior leds

doors!!!!

trunk with the same LED board as in the interior

another angle

A little something something from the front with the accord fogs!! Ty to guitarplayer16 for the help on that one

rear door only

from the front

lots of light in garage but still bright

front driver side

rear inside close shot

another inside for the hell of it

had space for one picture left on my camera!

Really nice when you get pulled over cuz it makes the cops feel safe cuz they can see everything. (can be bad and can be good depending on the situation)
renders my tints useless at night barely looks like I have them which is nice because cops will usually skip out on that ticket!! hopes this helps everyone these are with 24 led boards. I use to have 30 but it was just overwhelming and lights were randomly starting to go out so I bought the smaller version at 24. Still very very very bright. you can never lose anything in your car. my trunk still has the 30led though. amazing can see everything in there which is nice.

yea they get some getting use to. its actually pretty nice when i cant find my car in a parking lot you can see the interior light up from pretty far. i dunno it adds a little bit of class to the car also just cuz you can see everything. makes everything stand out more. I've tried other variants also and the brightness just looks sub-par to these

Hey pjillta, if i wanted to do all my interior lights with these boards,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/24-LED-Bulb-...9#ht_500wt_780

How many would I have to buy.. 2 for the door 2 for the rear dome 2 for the map.

That leaves the vanity lights, trunk light and glovebox light right? what would you recommend for these? I want these to fit in the oem location. I think the 24 will work in vanity but I have a feeling that will hurt eyes.....

I think the 9 SMDs i have for the map light is bright enough for me, looks sexy from the outside everytime i unlock the car at night, sometimes i feel like a spaceship pilot...

anyway i am putting the 24 Led Board in the trunk....

Hey pjillta, how dark are the tints on you car? If the led's would prevent a ticket or two I'm definitely putting them on.

Hey hey, you wont wanna use these for the door at all. wont fit and it will have a weird shine to it. Already tried it in total you want 5 of these. you can use 2 of them in the dome lights in the front, 2 in the right. take your time centering them. I actually used a leveler cuz I am a stickler for perfection. then you can use that same exact board for the trunk, it wont fit in the housing, but it will fit over the housing. The trunk lining covers this up so you wont see that it isn't in the housing. Plus the rear housing is a lot thicker and would hinder the brightness. This way It will match the brightness of the trunk and the interior dome lights. for the door, try using these http://www.amazon.com/5-SMD-White-Hi...694684&sr=8-34 its nice cuz it comes in 4. so you can also use these in the vanity as well. The glovebox leds have blown out on me a lot so I stopped wasting my money on them, plus the light housing for them is really really thick, So the oem ones are better for that to actually see, unless you try and make your own housing. so in total if you get 5 of those LED boards, and the 4 led SMT lights. you will be good for the trunk, domes, doors, and vanity. Hope that helps!!!

They are 30%, but they come in at 25% if you actually do an actual reading of it. its nice cuz lets say you get pulled over, throw on the lights, it turns the tints into 50%, and if you have nothing to hide, it gives the cops a good assurance that you dont have gangsta ride tints. Usually if you are nice enough they let you off with a warning as long as you are not a dick. But it really helps on neutralizing the tints when it comes into running into the law.

and as far as burning your eyes. its just overwhelming at first, but you get use to it. Its really nice if you have modified the inside of your car because you really see the money you put into it.

HELP!!!

so i ordered one of these LED's to test them out and got it in the mail yesterday (http://www.ebay.com/itm/24-LED-Bulb-...#ht_500wt_1127)

I installed them in the driver side dome light to see how they'd look. I wanted to decide if I wanted to install them in all the dome lights or just the trunk. Well I plugged the light in and and it didn't turn on. No biggie, I flipped the adapter around like the instructions said and the LED's came on. Everything seemed fine so I put the dome back up and then all of a sudden the LED's go dark. Before you know it, I smell something burning and my car goes dark. Pull open the dome and I see sparks flying out of the LED adapter and the wiring is all melted.

Now I don't know what to do. I liked the look of the LED's while they lasted but I'm sketched out. Did I install them wrong? Did I get a faulty unit? Should I get them from a different manufacturer?

Anyone else have the same problem?! I'm scared of installing anymore of these....!! Already have a blown fuse and some melted plastic in my dome light!

Lesson learned. Don't buy cheap LEDs from ebay. I mean there are lots of people who are running them, but if I were you I would get mines from a reputable company like www.v-leds.com

You didn't install or do anything wrong. Those LEDs are cheap and crappy made and from China. What'd you expect?

I do not believe that makes any difference. I've installed countless LEDs in my car and friends cars with the light switch still in the on position and they worked just fine and never had sparks flying or anything burn up.

I said it once and I'll say it again, if you want quality LEDs for the interior lights get it from www.v-leds.com

Now if you're looking for 24 or 48 LED panels than eBay is your only choice that I know of.
