Non Political Question (Please!)
I want to disconnect that damn seatbelt warning.
Every car that I have ever seen has a wire under the driver's seat that needs to be unplugged.
This car has a lot of plugs under the drivers seat.
Anybody know which one is the correct wire to disconnect?
Anybody with a service manual?
Thanks!
Please don't send me any politically correct responses. I ain't interested. . .
Thanks Again,
Eneg

Re: Just wear the belt, you'll get used to it after a while....

Be careful when thinking of unplugging any wires around your seat. It could be connected to the seatbelt pretensioners or an Airbag sensor!!

Yes, I realize that. I'm just trying to stop the beeping, buzzing, and the flashing when I don't feel like wearing them.
It's always been a very easy procedure. I am hoping the TL is the same way.
Just need somebody with a service manual to help out. . .
Thanks,

Maybe, but I can't afford to pick up the health care costs to keep him alive. My taxes are high enough.
I was hoping to get an answer without someone inserting their political views here. . .
Hey, I tried!
Still looking for an answer. . .
Thanks,

Eneg,
Chad was correct about being careful. Plus another thing to think about is by unplugging that sensor, will it have an effect on other safety equipment? i.e. airbags, pretensioners. Safety equipment is a lot more complex these days and messing with it could have some bad consequences (not to mention warranty issues). We are well beyond just seatbelt buzzers anymore and these systems are built to work in conjuction with each other.
Maybe moreace's suggestion of a spare buckle to put in the latch would be a better solution.

My buddy has a 2003 Ford F-250. It has an annoying beeping noise that comes on every 30 seconds for the first 5 minutes of driving the truck. In the manual, it has a series of steps that tell you how to diasble this feature. It's like turn on the ignition tap the brakes 5 times put on the hazard lights ....etc. So maybe there is something that Acura has to disable this feature.
My first car was an 85 IROC Z28. Of course I wouldn't wear the seat belt because 1) I was in High school and didn't want to look like a tool 2) because it was uncomfortable. It was only a matter of getting ripped into by a couple of local cops, before I was forced to wear it. They pretty much said that if they pulled me over one more time and I didn't have it on then they would write me up for every safety violation that my car had.
Anyways, about 2 months later I was involved in a pretty bad car accident with the IROC. A lady in oncoming traffic turned left in front of me. I was speeding, and couldn't avoid T-boning her. I hit her passenger side with so much force that one of the T-top roofs dislodged and went flying across the street. Everyone was alright, because both she and I had our seatbelts on. I'm not writing this to be political or to convince you to wear yours, I just wanted to let you know why I wear mine. If you get into the habit of doing it, you'd be surprised how it becomes second nature to put it on, and you don't even notice it.
Good luck with whatever you decide...

Mook,
Thanks.
I can't argue with anything that you have said.
I just thought that maybe the service manual would have the info that would tell me if I could do this safely. (That's why I haven't done anything, yet!)
I appreciate your response. . .

jeez, thanks
all he did was refer u to my post, the only one that tried to get at the problem
I can see where I am not wanted
Thanks for reading my stuff Mook, at least u always cared about me
Just follow teh sound to teh where the little alarm speaker is and cut the wires to that, much safer bet taht way, then pull out seatbelt warning bulb. easy breezy simple
while u r at it, u can disconnect the yellow harnees under the wheel or the dash or pull fuse to disable those pesky air bags
extra steel and stuff is prob slowing u down, u can take a torch and take out the extra support beams as well.
then if u drive really fast and dangerously u can see how much better the car feels w/ all that wieght taken off
just full of good ideas, any other safety features we can throw otu the window?
