Angry Noisy Breaks???

I have had my 2004 Dynamic TL for just over a month now. I have only put on a little of 1000kms; but at this point it should be mostly broken in IMPO. I find my breaks are horrible, whenever coming to a slow stop (i.e. light/normal break pressure) I get a high pitched sqeal that irritates the hell out of me. I haven't brought it in yet to get looked at, but I will be this week. Has anyone else run into this problem??? Any thoughts?

Breaks... brakes... ever notice you don't see the spelling mistakes until after you post?

No_Remorse,

Welcome to the board! I believe you are talking about the 6MT when you are referring to the dynamic TL. The Brembos come with a higher friction pad that will squeal as a trade off for improved performance. There has been many compaints from 6MT and a few 5AT owners. You can try hosing the pads with a garden hose to wash out build up of brake dust but that won't last long. Supposedly Acura is working on a fix with different pad formulations but I won't hold my breath :smackhead . Just turn up the stereo for now and know that you have superior brakes that will stop on a dime .

I have a 6MT and from time to time I hear the same thing. I was kicking myself think that I was driving/braking too hard. I am glad to know that it is a feature :smokin:

there are a bunch of threads on here about how to break in the brakes. If we're indeed talking about the brembo brakes then the squeling is completely normal until they are broken-in (bedded).

just search 'brembo'

Thanx for the info, I have read through several threads now and have to say I am very disappointed. By the sounds of it, this won't go away, at least not any time soon... had I known this before I bought the TL, I may have weighted my choices a little differently...

I am still going to take it in anyways to create the service record, maybe have some sort of miracle performed... but what a piss-off...

it is completely and totally normal. it will go away. follow the instructions found in those threads. It happens on all high performance brakes.

You sound like my dealer. Loud squealing (not squeaking) isn't normal, and for some--like me--it hasn't gone away (7k miles). And yes, I have tried "bedding" the brakes, which solved the problem for a day or two.

When I brake hard there is no squeal, but when I'm edging up to a stop sign or in bumper to bumper traffic the bloody brakes make a racket...and in 26 years of driving on both sides of the pond I cannot ever remember any of my other cars having taken this long for the brakes to "bed in" I have had very expensive cars in the past and I don't recall this type of a problem, even my Hirsh Saab with ceramic brakes didn't have this annoying habit, and they were the hardest pads I have ever had.
Cheers, Manumad
