the current gen altima sedan and coupes with the 3.5L v6 are no joke. im guessing its a CVT. those arent very good for racing. i've driven the altima coupe i4 cvt before and it would never have aggressive downshifts needed for racing, and the manual mode isnt that great.

It was an auto. And it had the tranny where it stayed at 6500 rmp the whole time. Stock vs stock it would have beet the 04 tl. Mine has head work j-pipe race pipe full exhaust and a cai. With all this I was pulling away but not hard will try and get a video up today

Nice run! I have heard of the CVT Altima 3.5L running mid-high 14's stock with a proper launch. With your mods though its nice to see you had the edge! Good race! Can't wait to see the video.
I have never had the pleasure of running a CVT altima 3.5L. I have raced and won against the 3.5L 4AT and 5AT. All great drivers races!

For all the prowess of the VQ35, it's such a shame when it's placed in the chastity of a CVT.

Ran a Nissan Altima SE-R and put about a 1and a half car lenght on from 40mph to about 100mph... this was before installing the RV6 TD exhaust

I just recall that youtube video where that guy that owned both the SER and TLS and the Alti both automatics and the SER won every time he ran them, he even admitted it was quicker. It has been posted here a few times when these cars are formentioned. Like TL sleeper said if he were stock Alti would have taken him.

Maybe. However, his assertions are typically accurate.

5AT vs. 5AT I'd definitely agree that the SE-R is quicker. But if it were 6MT vs. 6MT, I'd put my money on the TL-s given equal drivers. Although that would be a very close run; from both a dig and a roll.

IMHO, the TL-S driver who is highly proficient should be able to edge it out over the 3.5SE/SE-R MT. Personally, I think it's easier for a driver to extract max performance from an Altima V6/Maxima than it is from the TL-S....which is the main reason why I tend to lean in favor of the Nissan over the Acura in these instances.
My son ran head-to-head vs one of the TL-S' on this board and (IIRC) he was about .1 and 1 mph slower in his 3.5SE, though I felt he ran very well nonetheless.

True. When I go back to the track I will be sure to shoot him a text. I know he had an issue or 2 with the Alti, but hopefully it will be running better soon. I still have a good 2-3 months before I will even be ready

If you want to race him in the Alti, hit him up soon. He's had the itch to trade into a BMW since his near-death experience in that E60 M5 last year.

Oh Hullow
i drive an 09 3.5 altima sedan and a 2.5 altima sedan for that matter. the 3.5's are no joke (for a 4 door family sedan of course). the cvt sometimes robs them of power depending on where in the power band you are, and i think against a TL it really comes down to what speed the race starts at. Also when putting it into sport mode its advisable to not upshift and just let the tranny redline then shift itself, because you can accidentally upshift an extra gear if you time it wrong. (in the altima)
I used to own an 02 TL-S and i can say that the altima feels like it has more power readily available. However, like I said the altima can get heavily bogged down by the cvt.
