NHTSA crash of '04 TL

Well, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration frontal crash test result is in at:

http://www.nhtsa.gov/NCAP/Cars/2004Full.html

Its 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!

Awaiting the side impact scores and the ones from the Insurance Institute for Highway Saftey (www.iihs.org).

I'm sure the rollover resistance will be high.

Now if we can get AWD, a Hybrid engine, Onstar, Michelins and fold down rear seats, I'm sold! Ok, Ok, I'm putting on my flame retardant clothes and foaming my computer!

Great news. Can't wait for the IIHS ones, since I saw those pictures first.

Not surprising, remember the TL is essentially an Accord and the accord aced everything.

Hopefully GEICO will decrease my insurance costs now. Wow this car is expensive to insure!

SERIOUSLY! But since I already purchased insurance for this 6 month period I'll have to wait to see what happens later this year.

Looks like everything on there is 5-stars. What does it mean when EVERYTHING is "The best" is that everthing is AVERAGE. Hope it helps lower the insurance cost but I'm not holding my breath.

I remember State Farm and GEICO wanted about $800-$1000 per 6 months for insurance on the TL. I decided to get a Costco card and got insurance through them and AMEX. AMEX is charging me $630 or so per month for the same coverage.

Damn, $630 per month?

I'm sure you meant per 6 months right?

Dude, ditch that State Farm and Geico. I personally hate both of those companys. I'm paying 436 every six. And thats after our rates (county wide) went up.

cause the Rl is essentially an updated version of the 92-95 legend...i.e. very very old

Not to stray off topic, but I have AmEx Insurance as well. They rock! I pay $910 per year for my 2002 VW Passat (I'm 25, single w/ no accidents & 1 ticket). To those that have a Costco membership I highly recommend giving them a call.

Thanks. Insurance agents should listen to this.

Also, why 04TL belongs to Heavy Passenger Car... but other well-known competitors are in Medium Passenger Car category. Because of 3500 lb?

When talking $$$, it's not a lot if you compare with ppl living in NJ, NY, DC, etc. ,except you're talking your rate locally.

$436 per 6 months is great to us...

Heh man I pity people in large metro areas for insurance. I insure my wife and I (hers is a 2002 Pt Cruiser mine 04 6mt navi) for full coverage with maximums as high as they will go with compreshensive for $840 a year. We are both 28, my record is clean she has 1 ticket.

Sometimes living in more rural area has it's benefits.

Actuarial data tends to run in six month cycles, so it may be a while before the data is reflected in the tables. Also historically Acuras have been involved in a fair number of accidents because people take advantage of the HP.. which means your individual sensible driving matters not, you get lumped into the same group as them.

I heard that only 12 cars have ever gotten a 5 star rating, and Honda built 5 of them.
