It's funny you mention that. I don't know if any y'all keep up with Aerospace but Boeing chose to forge sunshades (that is to say there are no pull down plastic inserts to block out the light) on their new plane, the 787 (Dreamliner). Instead, Boeing opted to go for window with a film that will become opaque when current is run through it. Quite a clever way of doing things IMHO.

Anyway, point is that the technology is there and perhaps is more widespread than we realize. While I don't think we'll be seeing this on cars anytime soon (nor GE-90's for that matter) I do think it presents a realistic option for tinting besides a sunshade - especially for the rear window.

As for things I'd like to see luxury wise for the TL:
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]

However, I should note – as others have – for what I paid for the TL, I am quite happy with what I received.

Let's keep it simple:
1) Rear Folding Seats (I like that idea)
2) Key FOB (At least give us the 2006 Accord key)
3) Compass in MID (Add to Temp Screen)
4) 2nd Trip Computer (A / B)
5) Better leather and fix the rattles (I agree)

Personally I would not want Auto Headlights, I think it looks stupid when its 85 outside at 2pm and the sun is bright as can be and people are driving around with their headlights on. Just a personal opinion though. I know a lot of people who have auto lights and they have it removed.

Anyway cooled seats would be.......well cool.

I think a on/off HUD that displays info on the windsheild like Vettes did at one point would be cool, but would not want it on all the time i.e. on/off

How bout a HD video screen for DVD's and a XBOX 360 built in...........ok that may be a strech but would be cool

Instead of a cooled glove box, how bout cooled cup holders ahh yes.

Headlights that turn with the steering wheel around corners like I believe Cadilac or MB has.

Thats all tha pops in my head right now

Oh and a hot naked chick with every purchase

I got a list of ten things that they could do. I don’t think they would cause the cost of the car to go up all that much.

#1 would have to be the ability to play Mp3 on the stock CD player
#2 being able to shuffle between disks in the 6-disk changer not just the individual disk.
#3 Power telescoping steering column, linked to the driver memory
#4 stock back up camera.
#5 3d navigation sat linked with real time aerial photos. (Think google earth)
#6 more storage bins / pockets. (Includes a better coin holder)
#7 folding, reclinable, back seats
#8 cooled seats
#9 Sunglass pocket
#10 Ipod dock

hmm...hope my wish list does not contain anything illegal...

Hologram generator, that is classic.

Just to support some of the items mentioned:

- Realtime Navi - like the RL
- Backup camera - like the M35 (could be an option, like Navi)
- Cooled seats - this would be awesome in NY on those hot days - I know I
shouldn't complain, nothing compared to Texas in the summer
- Powered fold-in mirrors - like the maxima - this would be nice to have parking in
the city
- The umbrella seems like a nice convenience
- Fold down rear seats - not sure why we don't have that already, not sure if that
is a "luxury item

I think that is about it, the keyfob I am not a big fan of, I like the switchblade key, circa 1998

- Nicer Leather
- Cooled Seats
- Active Headlights
- Heated/Power steering wheel
- A/C seats
- Seats and Wheel which retract during entrance and exit
- SH-AWD(more for the snow than the handling)
- Better Ipod integration
- Additional Seat memory
- Nav/Traffic
- Better voice recognition(type out street name)
- That new Cruise control that the euro-accord(TSX) has that not only controls speed but tracks lane lines
- Auto tinting side mirrors
- Back up cam as a factory option

In Florida, we don't need heated anything, thank you very much.

And, in Europe, folding mirrors are a necessity and not for parking/stopping. For narrow city streets. (Just was in Paris and Rome. )

Also would like RDS on the radio.

And this:

Since I put a small ding in my rear bumper that is going to cost $500+ to repair, I would appreciate a back-up camera, too. Pay me now or pay me later. It's hard to see out the back and sometimes the dipping o/s mirror doesn't help and actually hurts.

I dont know about you guys, but I already have a refrigerated drink cooler, the armrest console! with the AC set at like 63 degrees it registerd a balmy 45 degrees in there!!!Works fantastically at keeping a 4 pack of redbull nice and cold on roadies!

oh and as far as adding: I would be just as happy as a pig in slop if my TL had MP3 capability, cooled seats, a compass, and that smart key thing where it unlocks/starts via proximity.

I agree with everything previoulsy listed but how about we start with something small and simple. A 6 way power passenger seat. This 4 way is an absolute joke.

Huh? The passenger seat is power? I didn't know that. I never sat over there. And the few times I had a passenger, they were so dazzled by the interior, they could have been in a $5 WalMart resin chair.

1. Pretty much what everyone else has mentioned.

2. I would like my heated and cooled seats to have different settings and automatically turn off when I turn off the car.

3. No tape deck - totally cheapens the car.

4. Satellite TV, cuz I'm a TV junkie

the passenger seat is power to the extent where the seat bottom moves fowards and backwards and the seat back does the same hence the 4 way. It would be nice if it had the extra feature the drivers seat has of moving the seat bottom up and down so the entire seat makes like a "V" shape.

I hope this makes more sense, it is kind of hard to explain.

there is one ferrari i saw at a dealer that had this option, it wasnt for the windows, it was for the roof. The roof went from clear to black with the touch of a button.

  • Option for sport seats that have side bolsters that wrap around you better and extensible thigh supports (BMW). Quite frankly the seats in the TL suck ass compared to my 01 CL-S in terms of side support. Also, adaptive seat technology is starting to seep into the automotive market...might as well get a jump on everybody. What's more important about a car than how comfortable the seats are?
  • AC seats
  • An audio system that:
    1. decodes & plays the 5.1 Dolby Digital & DTS soundtracks on DVDs (e.g., concert DVDs) but not video while moving
    2. has Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS neo:6 decoders so that you can get synthesized 5.1 from stereo sources
    3. has >20 GB embedded storage accessible via USB 2.0 or 802.11
    4. has mp3, wma, etc. audio decoders
    5. has a real sub with dedicated PA in the trunk
    6. has an external interface to a laptop/PDA with portal that allows programming of OTA audio sources (i.e., Cigar Dave show comes on at 3.00 - 4 PM) and also allows recording of XM programming for playback (like a DVR).
  • General purpose entertainment CPU slice that is modular & can be readily upgraded (Moore's law). (This is the engine that runs all audio & navigation SW)
  • Provide an open OS for entertainment system with APIs & SDKs
  • More LED accent lighting with adjustable intensity
  • HUD that's integrated with Navi, gauges & entertainment system.
  • Power telescopic/tilt wheel
  • Instantaneous MPG
  • Auto-on headlights (Navi knows when to dim the screen, why can't headlights know when to come on???)
  • Electric parking brake
  • Navi SW that shows POIs based on a distance or time radius the driver inputs (all restaurants within 25 miles)
  • Provide some choices for upscale interior wood or metallic trim (ala BMW)

Another basic fix: Get rid of the bars on the trunk lid. The carpet hides them but it's a huge waste of space.

The "U" shaped bars that connect the trunk lid to the car roll into the trunk. My Passat had straight bar pumps that didn't require curling into the trunk.

OK. You're talking about the hinges, not the torsion bars that counterbalance the weight of the hood?

Mine aren't covered with carpet. They have a plastic covering which is easy to keep clean. It also looks good.

I haven't had an issue with mine but I don't think I've had anything but groceries in there.

Well, there was that time that night that Tony Soprano borrowed it.....

One thing I was wishing for recently was in the XM Radio screen, I cant see why they dont show whats playing on all your preset stations listed at the moment as opposed to just the station your listening to. Plenty of room there.

Just found this. Me wants!!!!

Sharp develops first triple-vision LCD panel

The new LCD panel would, for example, allow the driver of a car to view a navigation system, the passenger to look at shopping and restaurant information and a person in the back seat to watch a movie, Sharp said in a press release.

--> Keyless entry and auto-lights <--
I've had many Ford products and these are 2 features that Ford offers. It is extremely convenient to keep your keys hidden in the car and not carry them around in your pocket. (plus you can't lock your keys in your car).

The TL has alot of cool features that Ford does not.....but the keyless entry is one that I definitely miss.

If they can do it without that ugly keypad on the door. Ugg nasty.

If they have better bluetooth support. In addition to easily playing mp3's off a cell or mp3 player via BT, I'd like to see directions transferred btw cell and navi, and integration between the house, car, and cellphone. i.e. After I leave my house in the morning, after travelling a certain distance, I'm notified on my house is unlocked and my garage door is open, the touch of a key will lock and close both. Same thing when I travel a certain distance away from my car and it's still unlocked.

like the maxima, it should have:\

better leather seats, heated steeringwheel, power telescoping and tilt steering wheel, curb aiming automatic reverse mirrors, AUTOMATIC FUCKING HEADLIGHTS, and did I mention BETTER LEATHER?!?!?

Maxima has all of this stuff and is comparable in pricing to the TL.

I like "heads-up display" like in the Pontiac Grand Prix and Corvette

Also, doesn’t the Canadian TL have ventilated seats?

One other feature I just thought of. I'd like to turn the sun visors into a transparent HUD which can display the computer and 3d navi (superimposing left/right turns on the road in front of me), and at night, maybe even display infrared heat signatures of deers and such.
