The next luxury items to add

My '02 GTI had a cool switch blade type integrated key that folded the key inside the unit and flipped open like a switch blade knife at teh push of a button.Neat little package.1 unit to carry and compact,no edges sticking you in the pocket etc.
Also you could seperate it in half leaving the ignition portion in the ignition in your car while running and take the other half, wich had the key ring (housekeys, mail box keys) and run back inside should you have forgotten something or to the mailbox to check mail while the car was still warming up.This came in very handy many many times!
The new Passat even does away with the fold-out blade. It's merely a unit you push into a slot on the dash.Even better!
And here's the TL with it's ancient regular old key and a seperate remote controller fob. Very disappointing considering.
we already have the auto on headlights..............
just turn them on and never turn them off, when you lock the car, (pressing the button twice) they will go off, and when you open the car up via remote they go on.
in terms of starting, I wouldnt mind having something like the RL system no keys at all.

i think pressure sensitive acuators to open the doors and trunk would be cool.. or at least the trunk when the doors are unlocked. that way you won't have to use the keypad or the interior switch.
i also wouldn't mind pushbutton start or a integrated key.

1. Push button start on the shifter would be a nice touch
2. Heated steering wheel.
3. telephone dialpad on the navi screen
4. bluetooth system saying out the name or displaying the name of an incoming call (if it can match up the name when you call out, why can't it go backwards)
5. cooling seats or vented head rest like the MB slk

a few more:

HUD (heads up display) showing various stats + enhanced night vision
intelligent cruise control
Built in Acura umbrellas.

Never get stuck in the rain again = not getting wet = not getting interior wet.
Spinner center caps that makes the A always pointed up, much like the Rolls ones.
I mean if we're talking about Luxury items then the umbrellas are cool cuz I've not seen them on cars less than $70K? unless that passat thing was right.
I really want the display unit to say the song name if I'm listening to FM radio. But since I don't do that anymore, XM only, I don't have that urge anymore.
Maybe we should start a thread of normal upgrades that we'd like to see on the TL.

lol you can hide your stash w/ the umbrella and find way to conceal the opening!
Auto headlights that sense day/night
No butt prints
Navi that pulls your address book to the screen Touch pad dialing on screen
Push button start and/or Remote Start
Glove compartment that has a drink cooler
Other than that the TL is The Perfect car for me

Heated steering wheel.
Cooled seats that can be activated remotely, like the windows down from key fob.
Keyless system like Lexus/Higher end Infinitis. The one in the RL is not nearly as cool as the push button start.
Kegerator and CO2 in the trunk with lines to a tap in the center console.

Sway bars?! It already has them. Some of us replaced them with stiffer ones, though.
My votes:
- Pushbutton start with proximity fob, like the Toyota one
- Cooled seats
- Better integration of HFL with the touchscreen
- Rear sunshade
- True iPod integration with a dedicated holder in the dash
- Larger glove box
- LED turn signals all around
- Driving lights to complement the highbeams

Complete bluetooth integration - for use with any BT enabled - cell phone, satellite radio, mp3 player, dvd player, upgraded sound system, PDA, laptop, keyboard/mouse, security system, game device, usb device, headsets for slightly more private calls, and ANY remote operated item - like say I want to add additional turn signals on the exterior and they are BT enabled and linked with the vehicle... sky's the limit with full BT compatibility.

What is the big deal about push button start? Unless it's completely passive; i.e. the key just needs to be in your pocket, doesn't it just complicate the starting procedure by making you first insert a key and then push a button?
Luxury/convenience/performance items I'd like to see? How about:
Leather seats that don't look like crap after being sat in.
Better sound deadening
Lack of rattles and buzzes
Adjustible pedals
More carbon fiber/wood trim
All wheel drive
Six speed automatic transmission
Standard A spec suspension/wheels/Brembos
Fatter leather steering wheel
20 - 25 gallon fuel tank
and of course - more power!

I was refering to the type where the security fob can stay in your pocket or purse. The doors unlock when you're near and the car is started with a press of the button. You don't even need to hold the button until it starts; it turns over automatically until it's started.

I'll take google earth/satellite imagery/real-time traffic in my next navigation system

Honda Releases Traffic System in Japan for Google Earth
Honda has recently (29-March) released a car traffic data system using Google Earth to present traffic status. According to newlaunches.com, the tool allows the company's "InterNavi Premium Club" members to see traffic data overlayed on GE:
Traffic information is displayed in three colors indicating "smooth (blue)," "busy (orange)" and "congested (red)." Initial service area only extends to 20 km around the center of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, but the coverage will expand nationwide.
The data is collected by Honda's "InterNavi Floating Car System", which apparently is installed on customer cars to track their data and share it with a central system. This probably gives very accurate real-time traffic data. But, I'm not sure whether that will be very popular in privacy-concerned countries. Apparently the system has already "collected data of total 100 million kilometers".

Acura needs to fix those before wasting time adding anything else
