putting a turbo on this engine is going to be a little risky. the compression ratio is 11:1 which is pretty high for an engine. if you add force induction you will be putting alot of stress on the engine. you might be able to run a turbo that has a low boost safely. if you really want to add a turbo you probably are looking at alot of work. first off there is no manufacturer of turbos for TLs so you will have to have someone build you a custom turbo manifold. if you do want to run a decent amount of boost then you will have to lower the compression of the engine either by boring or reducing the stroke. but if you have the time and money anything is possible. personally i like the TL the way it is and its a nice mix of luxury and performance. if you really want a car to tune the wrx is probably your best bet.

I read somewhere on this site a few months ago that our headers and cylinder heads are one whole piece. Normally you would replace the headers with a turbo exhaust manifold and bolt it up, but not in the TL's case

Burning Brakes
Our exhaust headers are built into the block, so barring major surgery, that's not going to happen. It's part of the ULEV-2 specifications, the headers and the first 2 catalytics are very close to the block for very fast warm up to reduce emissions as soon as possible. Then there's a 3rd Cat downstream of the first 2. Can't wait to replace those at a grand a pop, but luckily federal laws state they are covered for 100,000 miles regardless of warranty.
