Newbie Forum Questions

Looking to purchase a TL Type-S (just have to get the wife to sign off) and I've been looking through the forums the past few days. Some of the acronyms here have me a little confused, yes I've searched but that doesn't really explain them.

A-Spec - I thought there were two types, base and Type-S. From what I gather A-Spec is the suspension?

Statement from the tire section: "I agree (and almost bought CBP for the same reason), but IMO add ASM to the list of colors that look ok with the TLS rims. I hated them on my MRP (They made the car look dull to me), so I got these..."

What's MRP and ASM?

Yeah I know they're probably stupid questions but oh well.

hey there- welcome to the forums.

MRP= moroccan red pearl
ASM- alabaster silver metallic
CBP= carbon bronze pearl

you're right- there are only two models, base and Type-S.

(full) A-SPEC= body kit which includes front, side and rear underbody spoilers, lip or wing spoiler on the trunk lid, 18" rims/tires, steering wheel & suspension. there might be a couple of other little things.

they are not stupid questions. now you know the answers

Thanks for the reply. Is A-spec a package not listed on the Acura website? On acura.com i see the spoiler as individual options.

They may not offer it as a package deal anymore, but in previous model years it was an option that included front, rear and side skirts. 18' rims and slightly stiffer/lower suspension. Now I think they sell it all individually for the base. The type-s includes this equipment.

^^ just so the op doesn't get confused- the type-s does not come w/ 18" rims.

Just a suggestion: Test drive the TL AND the Type-S. Some on the forum say the TL-S suspension is too stiff and uncomfortable, others think it may not be stiff enough. Depends upon your particular style of driving.
I like my TL-S just fine except on less than ideal roads.
