New Wiper Blades

i read a certain thread about this before but i could find it and i figured some fresh ideas would be better.

the wipers on the 3G TL are not that great, they work fine when its heavily raining, but when its drizzling or lightly showering, they are terrible, they screech and they just make the windshield all blurry, and it looks terrible and I CAN'T SEE.

can someone please point me in the right direction of good wipers, ive heard that piaa makes good ones. are there other alternatives, i jsut wanna look at my options. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

if you do a search on PIAA Sporza or just Sporza you'll find numerous threads on this. I have the carbon fiber ones on mine. For $50 from pepboys delivered, it's a good deal as they're the lowest I've seen around. However PIAA says to replace the blades once a year which seems to me to be a bit expensive for $50 wipers. Although I think the blades are $20 or so. My driver side wiper skips over the windshield near the bottom of the blade, I'm unsure of why that is, I think there's not enough pressure on that part.

I also have it working with RainX and it works great.

Here's a link to the thread that's in the garage section. PIAA replacements fit the existing assembly and are relatively cheap (much less than the whole assembly)

i bought the piaa's and they are great. Sometimes if the rain is light enough I dont even use them because the rain sheets off the window due to the silicon you wipe on it before use. Great investment.

i've never had an issue with the stock blades, all you need to do is buy the rubber from Acura which is 3 bucks.

Yes, if you go to pepboys or tirerack and go through the selection process it'll give you those 2 as choices only.

Did you guys buy the Sporza or Silicone?, also what makes a difference between having the spoiler and not, does it decrease wind pressure on the blades so its easier for them go back and forth instead of wiping against the wind?

Sporza has the spoiler and Silicone does not. otherwise it's the same.
the spoiler helps it stay on the glass as it's wiping back to the 1st position as wind travels over the spoiler. Hence the down force effect.

The carbon fiber decreases the weight by 2000lbs and adds 15 extra bhp.

I also have the PIAA Sporza carbon fiber blades and highly recommend them. They are by far the best blades out there plus they look sharp.

I have the Sporzas on my TL. They work very well although I don't know how much the "aerodynamic wing" really helps.

Keep in mind that glass preparation is very important for you wiper blades to work properly. Get a good glass polish to clean it as much as possible. I've even clayed my windshield to get it clean and smooth before I apply Rain-X.

I took a picture but the lighting wasn't all that great. I hope this give a better idea what they look like on the car. Since the "aerodynamic wing" is much wider than a regular blade, I was a little worried at first that it would be distracting when the blades are moving but it's really not noticeable at all.

based on advice read here, I ordered a set of the PIAA silicone wiper blades (not the ones with the spoiler), and I couldn't be happier. Whisper quiet, silky smooth across the glass! Highly Recommended!

Check out the new Bosch Icon Blades. I've had these on my car for over 3 months with excellent results. No metal, no chatter, no lifting at high speeds, and no freezing in the winter. They actually use similar blades on the 06 TSX's, but the TL blades are still old school.

They carry these at autozone now.

PIAA has these as well. They're called Valeo I think. I might give up the look of the spoiler one of these days.

You've been using the Icons on a 3gTL ? Autozone shows a passenger side Icon blade but not the drivers side.

I have an 02 TL, but I bought 2 pairs and put the 2nd pair on my neighbor's 04 TL. 04-06 calls for 26" but 24" will work just fine. They probably don't make 26" yet.

The mounting points are exactly the same, so they will fit. The slightly smaller blade will give you more wiping power anyway. You will not notice the 1" difference on either end.

I think Bosch and PIAA make a good blade. I've been happy with my stock blades so far...when the time comes I'll probably wind up putting the rain x wipers on...only because they dont cost me anything.

Go to autozone or walmart.. just change your blades.. nothing more. Stock was bad for my car.. just changed for blades that cost me no more than $7.. been fine since then.
