new tranny at 40k?

I am currently looking at buying an '06 WDP, 50k miles, with Nav and the owner is telling me that the tranny was replaced at 40k due to some defect. I am aware of the 04/05 issues, but i thought the tranny issues went away by 06, no? Is this something I should worry about it? I think I might be able to pick it up for under $17k, which is a great price even with 50k miles.

call acura with the VIN number- tell them `looking to buy` and want a warranty history check and recall check
They can tell you if the trans was really replaced or some other problem was addressed
1-800-382-2238 x5 gets a human
6am-5pm pacific time

the weak clutch packs are the culprit,
if you get a car with a warranty replacement trans- thats a good thing IMO

if its a 6mt thats normal. the 6mt's had synchro issues and it was resovled with a recall, i doub5t the tranny was REPLACED. more like the synchros and bearings were replaced

Hell, I just got a new AT5 tranny on my 07-TLS and it only had 7,800 miles on it!!! Seems like trannys are the achilles heal of Acuras. See about an extened warranty.

be easy on the downshifts into 3rd and 2nd- thats the wear point on the TL auto trans
Ok when you need to do it to be in the right gear-torque-rpm to accellerate off the apex,,,but dont use the trans as a brake in normal driving

Brakes are cheap compared to a $4000 trans!

5AT and was replaced at 46k miles. The seller provided the dealer' where it was done and I called and talked to them. It was a full replacement under warranty, but that's all I could get from them.

It's the luck of the draw. Some have trouble, many more don't.
