I'll take more vitamin HP but the cosmetics look like they're for someone who'd wish for a penis extension.

Ya know what I liked about the GS and the 330i and now the TL? They didn't show off. I debadged them, no cosmetics. They just looked like mom's car but they go like stink. I make the TL just rip and people look at it like "what the hell is that?" No fins. no wings, no tints, nothing shiny, stock wheels, sticky tires and bye bye.

I think the tail lights are the worst part.

Any idea what this thing will cost?

I'm guessing well over $40k, since the current A-SPEC goodies, sans engine & exhaust upgrades, already cost $5-$6k.

I'm also guessing that when this hits showrooms it will have lost more than just the roof (things like the rear-view video camera just don't seem realistic to me).

This is my worst nightmare and is why I'm hesitating at buying a TL right now. I fear I'll buy an 04 and in '05 they come out with a Type-S version.
But if the Type-S ends up looking like this then I'm not really interested, especially at the price they would have to charge.

If they come out with a Type-S that has all the engine and suspension tweaks but without all the silly boy-racer add-ons and kept the price under $40k I would be definately interested.

Seriously, what would my parents say when I show up at their house in this thing?
What would my neighbors think? Sure the teenage kids would probably soil themselves over it but all the adults would laugh at me. (This statement just made me think that of the 15 or so families on my street, my 98 CL 3.0 is probably the crappiest car in the neighborhood. How sad is that?)

So I guess I'll just wait it out until I can see with some clarity what might be coming next year.
Luckily my CL is still a great car so I don't need to buy something new right away.

Who's feelin the red? Wish they had pitures of the suede. I know I'm not willing to pay for the adaptive cruise control. I know on the bimmers and benz it's like a $2000 upgrade! I'd be okay without that!

The concept of an adaptive cruise control has got to be one of the dumbest concepts ever. Most clueless drivers on the road don't use their cruise controls and are very inconsistent with the speed they maintain. They speed up (especially if you try to pass them) and then they slow down. Repeat cycle ad nauseum. They slow down hills and on corners. On the lengthy trip to the airport recently, I passed the same lady twice and she passed me three times while I was on cruise.

The LAST thing I want for my car to do is to mimic such inconsistent behavior. If you want to idiot proof the car, then simply provide a proximity warning indicator so that you know when to pass.

That's Volvo's new tech to eliminate the blind spot. It will signal you the safe range to pass. You may take a look.

Isn't this essentially an extension of the TL's backup sensors? Put them around the car and set the tolerance to allow for further distances and you're set.

Not exactly. That feature is for those folks who don't know how to adjust their mirrors properly.

I'm referring to the problem(?) some people have where they seemingly cannot tell they are gaining on a car from directly behind. Adaptive cruise control maintains a contant distance to the car ahead yours. They slow down, so does your car.
