Just picked up my TL!


'06 white 5AT. Navi. 125,000 km (or 74,000 miles). I purchased it through a private seller, and the previous owner seemed like a good guy (had all the maint. records and everything). He owned it for 1.5 years and said he didn't do anything except regular oil changes, brakes, etc.


Iv been reading on the forum of tragic transmission failures... and I want to know what I can do to prevent such a thing happening to me (how often am I supposed to change the ATF? - anything else that can help?)


also... if I want a smooth ride that doesn't feel any bumps on the road should I change my struts as well? and if so... any brand/model/specification I should look for?

 

Do the 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches for sure and do at least a 1X3 trans flush, do a search on using Redline fluid and be ready to do a lot of reading. I have an 06 and use 65% Redline racing (typeF) and 35% D4 and have done 3X5 flushes so far, I changed the switches and the trans filter. The trans shifts like new (or better),, I will post the link on switches for you.

My trans went in my 04 tl, after i replaced it, i started doing the 1x3 (drain 3qt and refill) every other oil change(oil changes at 3-4k). I used the newer honda atf with no problems. but have read through the threads that 1klrtoy mentioned and was thinking about switching to redline. ended up selling the car before i made the switch.
