Cool New Tl-s - Now I'm Curious

I'm New , I've had my 07 TL-S for about 3 months now and I'm pretty fond of it. It's got the AT, but I would have preferred the MT. It was actually my wifes car that I convinced her to buy, then she didn't like it so I took it over, sold my truck and she bought a Lexus ES350 instead. If I would of been the purchaser and original daily driver, it would have been a MT.

Anyways I can't seem to find out what the posted (untuned) 0-60 times are according to Acura. I roasted a G35 sedan today on the freeway and it got me to thinking.

Which of you knowledgeable Acura fans can answer my easy question?

Any idea what the 0-60 time is on the G35 Sedan? I've been told that the G35 is quicker off the line but can't hold off the TL-s from a roll.

I believe that the G35 could NOT beat a TL-S off a roll - big delay between when you hit the accelerator and when the G35 (AT) kicks in (based on my test drive and reason for not buying).

You will be glad you have the AT when you are stuck in traffic and when you finally sell the car too. MT owners are finding some dealers dont want them as trade in- while others cant keep them on the lot for a day after the trade!

The SS mode is a sweet manual trans which lets you use your foot to brace instead of pushing pedal

Are you guys referring to the '07 G35 Sedan Sports Model? I test drove one prior to purchasing the TL-S, and if I recall correctly, the G35 was definitely more responsive in terms of torque across the board. Than again, aren't VQ engines known for that? I heard V-TEC is best at higher RPM's.

I'd love to race a IS350 or a G35 Sedan, but I never get the chance...I see them all the time, yet it never works out because L.A.'s traffic SUCKS! If not that, they're making a turn... -_-; So far I've only "roasted" a new '07 Altima...

proud type-s owner here too but I have to say if you compare against Is350 or G35s, it would be a tougher matchup. I guess it all depends on hard both drivers are going at it. For me, so far I've even let some SUVs beat me from the stop sign or light 'cuz I don't think my engine is 100% broken in yet AND the other drivers were eager to race ....

What I love doing is letting them think they're winning, but at soon as we reach the 2nd or 3rd red light... game over.

The IS350 would toast your TL-S unless the driver is a moron. I raced a G35 in my TL. I kept up with it but backed off because the driver was getting way too stupid. I don't want to tear my ride up

"Acura is deadly serious in its quest to expand the TL's image and reach from its current high-tech mid-size luxury position to where it can woo true performance buyers. As proof, it claims better 0-60, quarter-mile and 50-75-mph acceleration for the '07 Type-S vs. the (2006) BMW 330i and Infiniti G35, and superior handling (slalom speed) vs. those two and the Lexus IS 350. (It does not claim it will out-drag the 306-hp IS350 or BMW's new 300-hp twin-turbo 335i, because it won't). With 0-60 capability in the sub-six-second range with the manual, this hot new Type-S lands well in the ballpark even as the bar keeps moving upward".

TL-S @ 5.7
G35 Sedan @ 6.0
IS350 @ 5.3

What magazine are you guys getting the 5AT TL-S numbers from?

The only numbers I've seen from any magazine so far is from R&T and it lists the following:
TL-S 6MT - 5.7
G35 MT - 5.4
IS350AT - 4.9

I'd be very happy to read any reviews/performance data on the 5AT TL-S!

IS350 4.9? How? Anyways I'm pretty sure an 07 g35s would smoke a TL-S.

I think it was the manual he referenced.
