New TL owner - got questions

Ok so I bought a 2006 TL 6spd about a month ago. So far I love the car but there are a few minor annoyances that i have questions about. First, is there a way to disable that annoying "fasten seatbelt" indicator. Yes I'm well aware that seatbelts save lives and i should always wear mine, but i dont, atleast not always. Second, is there a way to make both mirrors tilt when in reverse? Before anyone tells me to read the manual which can be found in the glove box, i have and i know that it's not possible without some sort of aftermarket gizmo. Just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly where to find it. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to AZ.

We are not allowed to post about disabling safety features on a TL

(if you search google you will find a few options)

Tilting both mirrors at the same time, this is not an easy fix. You'll have to modify the switch, so when it is in the middle position, it will signal left/right are on... I would open the switch up, and go from there. (I'm not sure if it is hot source or a negative trigger)

Good Luck.

Welcome aboard!

Both of your requests will require modifications of some sort.

new TL owner - got more questions

ok so i have a few more questions that i forgot to ask in my first post...is there a way (easy) to connect an ipod to my factory system (no nav) in a 2006 TL? My friend has an '07 or '08 TL (not sure what year exactly) and i know he has some sort of aux input in his center console but i guess '06s didn't come with this feature. One last thing, I have a 6spd manual which i personally think adds to the driving experience, however something about it just seems different from other manual transmission cars i've had in the past. For some reason it just seems difficult to shift smoothly when i'm just driving leisurely. But when i get on it a lil harder, it seems much smoother. Maybe i'm just a crappy shifter, but it just really seems a lil different from what i'm used to. I'm sure some of you will tell me to take driving lessons or something similar, but i was just asking to see if anyone else has any thoughts on the issue. Thanks again for everyone's help and i'm sure there was something else i wanted to ask but forgot.

Always Drive with your seatbelt on-
It saves the EMTs time searching for the body when you go out the sunroof--
it has happened! seen it- not pretty~

The TL has a self adjusting clutch which is supposed to give it good feel regardless of current wear on disc
There is a 3rd gear issue
Many run `gm fluid` to make shifting smooth
Have a read of the thread titles in 3rd gen section here for details

Till this day I have no idea why people choose not to wear a seatbelt.. Thats just retarded.. It's not like its that difficult nor does it make it that more uncomfortable to ride.

also just to try and clarify a little about my clutch issues...to me it seems like the point at which the clutch engages or disengages tends to change somewhat. I dunno...maybe PiZaul's right and i'm just an r tard.

As far as the shifting......and I've drove a few manual vehicles in my life time, they ALL feel different. You just need to get used to it.........congrats on your TL!!

you could always unattach one of the seatbelt tips and keep it plugged in permanently

I agree with the post about it being hard to drive the 6MT when driving conservatively. I have had a handful of MTs and this one was born to run. It does fine with moderate to 'escaped mental patient' acceleration but can be a bit lurchy in second when driving slowly. The best solution is to drive fast.
