New TL is needed ASAP

I've always been a Honda fan--had an RSX and now an ABP TL, but with Lexus and Infiniti coming out with these new models, I just wish Acura would spit out a new TL now! The new ES350 might not be the nicest looking car, but it does have more horsepower than the TL. I know it is not all about the horsepower, but I remember the days when I could "wow" people with the amount of horsepower the TL--a sedan-- offered. Lexus is not for me, but I'm just saying that I wish a new TL with increased horsepower and SH-AWD will come out now to "wow" people again.

P.S. I know that there are many other sedans out there with more horsepower, but I'm talking about in the price range of the TL.

when I got my '05 back in Nov of 2004, one of the sales guys told me that a new TL is not coming out until the '09 model, (released in '08). He also told me that this may be the first TL to have SH-AWD, I am assuming it would have more power as well, but he didn't say specifically.

What part of Atlanta do you live in? As you can tell from my profile, I live in Lawrenceville; near Pleasant Hill road.

Why not get a Chrysler 300C? 340 hp V8, 390 ft-lbs of torque. I'm sure you could wow people with the torque alone, which is approx. 160 ft-lbs more than what the TL offers (although the 300C weighs quite a bit more than the TL). The 300 can't touch the styling of the TL though!

Is there no one out there who buys a car just because THEY like it? Some of you guys spend way too much time worrying about impressing others.

I don't give a rats ass that the TL supposedly doesn't "wow" people the way it did when it was new. It's still a great car and I enjoy driving it.

*I* am the only one who needs to be wowed.

Hey...I live in Atlantic Station on 17th Street. I go to Pleasant Hill Road quite frequently for the Fry's Electronics store and the Super H-Mart supermarket. We should meet up sometime with the other CL's and TL's for a meet.

Very true, but as you said, the 300C is not my kind of look--kind of old for my taste.

newer models will always be coming out and you can always wait for them. Theres an advantage to picking up the newest model in that might have lots of new features, however theres a drawback in that there might be a lot of issues with the first series of a new model.

I would say as of last year, the TL is an excellent mature model where most of the primary issues have been worked out (e.g. transmission) and to a lesser extent rattling, butt prints, etc.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but there's going to be a meet at Andretti's in Alpharetta on Feb. 26th at noon. Come join us.

Lets say an AWD model is coming out. This might have significant performance increases but I'll bet fuel economy takes a big hit. Not sure if I'd even go for that. I'm happy with the current blend of performance + economy/efficiency.

If they came out with a new TL with the SH-AWD system I would buy the car immediately I love my 05 TL but the front drive layout just isn't that impressive.

Wish all you want, but it ain't gonna happen. A drastically revised TL with AWD and boosted horsepower will become a reality, but its appearance will largely be dependant on their present five year replacement model and sales figures for the existing car.

People dont understand also that you can make an older model better than a new one by great maintenance and husbandry.

the lexus may have 272 horsepower, but the 0-60 is still slower than the TL... i guess they did that to not impede on the IS350 and GS430 territory. Also, I still feel the ES makes a lot of sacrifices for luxury over sport, which is the point of that car.
