Hey Blackura, I'm glad your car got fixed in time for the show.

Wheels and brakes on both these cars are awesome.

Enjoy the show

Wow Allon... Car looks Great!!! You Gotta win at HIN

How you like your new braking power??? Crazy right... So how many 80mph to 10mph sequences you went thru on your way back from CT... nothing like the smell of brakes....

Still seeing some light spider webbing. What process do you use on you paint? A light cut compound and the right pads for a PC would solve this.........

Well... I broke mine in immediately... I didn't wait 1 mile to go thru those sequences... well, that's what my guy said to do, so that the pads could set in real nice with the rotors... and they are great...

I had the whole Hunts Point Section of the Bronx smelling like brake dust...

Yeah Allon... call up Joshua and ask him the proper break in procedure recommended by Rotora... 'cause I just took a ride with my mechanic and he did the actual break in while I just held on for the ride...

ill also add .. that as soon as my brakes were installed .. the break in was done .. some pretty hard stops .. some easy stops ...the guy that did the install of mine said that it is EXTREMELY important to break them in immediately to avoid warping the rotors

ive never had any shaking come from my brakes .. even when brand new

good luck with the kit

c'mon. One piece or 2 Piece rotors. I'm considering a rear BBK too to match my front.

ok... so... two things...

one... when i brake, it sounds like a sheet of paper being stuck into an electric fan... i think i recall my car making that noise when it was brand new, so maybe they just need to break in... only got about 90 miles on them so far...

two... the whole car vibrates like crazy when i brake moderately.... is that also a break in factor? any other 3G's with these besides me and rodney? Would love to hear some feedback on em. i havent had the chance to really test them out, since they are still so new...

plus, before i got the brakes, my wheels/brakes were making a whirring sound, which would slow down as the car slowed down...... i changed the brakes, it didnt do it for 2 days, and now its doing it again. What could be causing that sound??

could my dust shield be rubbing on the rotor?

hrmmm im not sure i can really add much help here .. but i know when i installed the brakes on my SI .. the front dust shields had to be completely cut off ... (the metal piece thats behind the rotor) ...

do the directions for the TL call for that ? .. and did you verify that the dust shields are still on there

when you had the brakes done .. did they do the break in ? .. like i stated above.. from talking with the guy that did mine.. it is EXTREMELY important that they are broken in the correct way right from the get go .. or else you could warp the rotors... i hope that did not happen in your case .. but shaking when you brake is def not a good sign ... that is generally a sign of warped rotors

no, josh from excelerate did the brake in.. its not "shaking" like when your rotors are warpped.. its a 'vibrating' when i apply brake pressure. also, it sounds like a piece of paper in an electric fan when im braking, but i think thats normal

as for the other sound.. it was doing it with my stock brakes...so i said whatever. i got the new ones, it stopped... two days later, its doing it again. maybe something with the wheel or tire? its a scraping/whirring sound when i slow down, the sound slows down. hard to explain.

yea, hes probably off today.that guy works hard.

its starting to worry me though. cause when he tried to pull my driveside rotor, the screw would NOT come out. he had to blow torch and drill the one screw that held my OEM rotor in place for, honestly, an hour. the front left brake was always making some crazy ass noises.. so i figured, i would drop the money, and get the good brakes... only... the noise is still there, and now there are new noises !!!

i definitely cant bring it to acura. even if the noise was there before the BBK. and its funny, the front left also wouldnt "vacuum bleed" .. we had to pump the brakes and force the fluid out of the lines. all 3 other lines bled right through the vacuum.

the car has already had the master cylinder replaced twice when i first bought it...

anybody with BBK's on a 5AT feel free to chime in and give me advice. ACCURATEin?

You said you are experiencing a vibration but not like warped rotors? We did the break in already but you can always do it again to re bed in the pads if you think that may be it. Stoptech has the same procedure as ROTORA:

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...formance.shtml

We didn't have any vibration though during the break in or subsequent cool down period. Did you do any abrupt braking? Does the car still brake fine in terms of coming to a stop? When does the vibration occur, at certain speeds or only when braking? The brakes were fully bled so you don't have to worry about that. If you had air in the lines you would know. The noise like you said about the paper may just be the dust shield rubbing against the rotor and that may be causing a touch of vibration too. When the brakes have cooled down just take a screw driver and push the dust shield back, away from the rotor. Feel free to call me to discuss further. I may refer you to ROTORA direclty for further technical info if I can't solve the problem.

anybody with these BBK's bend or remove the dust shield?

hey josh, i havent hit the brakes hard yet, because i still havent gone over 300 miles and i want to do everything right. from what i gather so far, its braking great. the vibration is basically as soon as i start to brake. its a strange vibration too. the sound? i also think thats the bads breaking in. i only have about 170 miles on the brakes, as i have barely used them. the sound also seems to be fading slightly...

it looked like the dust shield cleared the rotors when we did the install.... but maybe the wheel pushed it back? when its cool, im gonna jack it up and take a look. the bulk of the problems seem to be coming from that front left wheel... something else might be brewing in that area causing all this trouble. its a crappy rainy day, so i may check it tomorrow.

what would happen if i remove the dust shields? just more dust build up? i noticed brake dust starting to accumulate on the calipers and rotors, guess they are starting to break it. i havent hit them hard yet , or even gone really fast...

if possible, could you let me know what the break in procedure is again?

Thanks!

just read the stoptech brake in process. which is exactly what we did... maybe ill try it again on a dry day this week.. the vibration is onyl when applying the brakes with a slight bit of force... >20% braking force. again, these suckers are still new, maybe this will all go away over the next 100-300 miles or so....

i will check the dust shield immediately to make sure nothing is wrong there.

my rotora ceramic pads and slotted rotors vibrated for a bit as well under hard braking the first day or two. Went away once I got to about 500 miles or so.....just everything breaking in and settling.

thats what im hoping will happen. still only have about 180 miles on `em. i barely used the car this week with HIN going on.

the other sound is just f!#@$ng terrible. i honestly think its my front left dust shield rubbing on the rotor. the sound has been there for months.. and i changed the entire brake setup and its still there! its like a metal scraping/whuuring which slows down as i slow down. i think im gonna remove or bend the shield tomorrow and see if thats the remedy

Just now got to reading this thread. Good purchase on the brake setup. It's always better to be able to stop than to go fast and end up in a ditch like my buddies 540whp TT 350Z.

The Rotora quality is good so don't get to worrying about that. A lot of people are running these brakes from what i've seen.

I remember when me and my friend installed them about 2 years ago we test drove it and it made a sound like you're describing. It scared the shit outta me but it turned out it was only the dust shield that had been bent and was rubbing the rotor. Just do what Josh said to do if so.

think that dust shield may have damaged my rotor already? only 170/180 miles or so on it

Show me a pic of the dust shield that you need to bend, would be intersted..

My Rotora 1 piece slotted rotors and ceramic pads squeak sometimes, and i have two circles that are etched into the rotor around the front passenger side and i wondered what in they hell the were.. They are not really deep, but you can feel them if you rub your finger against them after they cool off and you can definetley see them.. Is this something similar?

HELP

thanks
