hey guys, I am asking for your help. Ron Jon is working on a new lip kit for the TL type S. But he doesn't have enought funds to cover all of the costs. So we are looking for people who are willing to make deposits for the kit. So far we have three, but we need about 35.

I can't help with the goal as I don't have a TL-S, and even if I did, I have zero funds. However, I fully support the project; Rondy is a great guy and the quality of his products is amazing. Good luck!

How much would the deposit be? Will it fit on a stock 07 TL-S?

 

Apparently, you guys need about 40 people MINIMUM to get going

 

I just messaged Ron, he will get back to me about the deposits. This kit is for 07-08 Stock TL-S's. If it goes into production it will be sweet!! We got 4, we need more..come on guys, look at how nice that kit is.....

 

Someone mentioned $1200 as the deposit, is that the price set or just guessing? If we get more then the 35 does the price fall? Also how long after we give our deposit would we have to wait before we recieved the kits?

 

oK Ron just responded, he says he needs half of the deposit for the front bumper $225. He also said he needs only 25 people, so we need 21 more. Come guys we can do this just 21 people who can put up a deposit for this bumper, its worth it.

i'm a little hesitant to put a deposit down. no offense to ron, i know he's busy, but i just dont wanna kiss a $225 deposit good-bye & be waiting on a lip (or lip kit) for months & months. i'd want some sort of guarantee that the kit/lip will be made/produced and/or an eta. i thought we were really close to getting one made on the last thread, but it didnt happen. not trying to be a dick, just saying that it came pretty close once before, but didnt happen.

Ron is physically going to go to the California to make sure the molding and sculpting process are perfect. I am gonna try to see if he can reply to this treat to give you guys some more info on it.

WEll, I really can't bite off more than I can chew right now. There is no guarantee it will be made until 25 people can say they are buying it for sure. This TL-S model will only account for a portion of all TL's sold, and the lip will not fit the Previous 04-06 TL, or the non-Type S TL. So I am very hesitant to make it. Also, I would have to fly out to Cali and spend a good amount of time, possibly 4 days just monitoring the progress.
Originally, I planned on making a full kit for the New 09 TL, since that would be a better investment as a new model all together. but if these 25 front lips are sold, then we can just go ahead and make them to please those who want them. I wouldn't even look at it as a profit thing, but I don't want to risk losing with the 09 right around the corner.
You have to understand that the molds for these things can be VERY expensive, and unless alot of lips are sold, it really isn't worth it. So until 25 people are ready to put down $225 deposit (half the price), it won't be made. I won't take a dime until 25 people are ready to go.
Thanks for understanding, but I had a ton of things being done this coming season. And for a company as small as this, time, energy and funds are depleted right now.

 

OK, just to make sure that I understand; the deposit of $225 would be half of the cost for the front lip only? right? if so what would the cost be for the hole kit (front, sides, and back)? Also which kit has Ron gone with A,B, or C?

in response to this thread I wouldnt want to pay for a kit that I havent yet seen in person, I totally understand the business aspect of this situation and yea Rondog is right looking at it from a business stand point. Suggestion or idea: would it be possible to have a custom job done on the base 07-08 front lip - maybe a little cutting or shaving to make it fit. I havent compared the base front lip with a type -s front bumper in person although I know that the out lining of the fog lights are faced in a different direction and the bottom of bumper in front of the wheel well flares out a little. Just an idea!

 

I got the same question, what exactly is being offered here, a lip, a full kit, price list....provide info so one can make an educated decision.

What's ETA with the production time, how many weeks?

PS If you make 25 only, and let's say you crack any part of the kit, that's it, your done.

If they are already making a mold, they should consider designing a universal 'adapter' so more TLers can purchase the product.

 

ok, let me try ot clarify:

1.) the front lip is being made to save costs, because the sides and rear from the previous RJ kit and the A-Spec are good enough.

2.) 25 participants needed for this project, but more will be made if needed, the 25 quantity is minimum.

3.) ETA would be 2 moinths from start of the project

4.) the design would have to be agreed upon, but most likely would be Version A from this thread:

another idea....maybe it would be possible to cut of the part of the type s front lip that goes over the fog to make it look more like the base front lip.......hopefully you guys understand what I'm saying...lol...or I can say it in korean if you dont understand....lol maybe even spanish..

 

Ok, since it is only a front lip kit, I would go with choice B, as it will give a more complete look with other kits.

Have to think about this very hard...if it's worth it for me.

But 25 people seems like an easy number to reach, I'm sure more people will chime in to help the cause.

People lets not forget that there is $100.00 shipping charge with that O.K.. Making it $550 plus tax. Just for the front lip! Then you have to spray it. Add about $150 for primer and dual stage Nasion paint. I'm starting to wonder if I want it. If the cost for the lip was around $350 then then I would go for it. Ron's full front bumper sells for $550, I think. Just something to think about.

Adding myself to this list.

I currently have the full A-spec body kit on my TL-S. The sides and the rear look great, but I and am personally very unhappy with the front bumper. It does not flow with the lines of the car, and sticks out like a sore thumb. I wish the A-spec kit for the TL-S was more subtle and elegant (yet mildy more aggressive) like the regular TL's A-spec kit. Unfortunately, I got the TL-S kit when it first came out and didn't realize how different it was from the base model's.

Having spent well over 35k on my TL-S a year ago, I have no problem spending another $450 plus extras for a sweet-looking front lip to obtain the subtly aggressive look that I was originally wanting (and get rid of the front fugliness).

For those of you that are looking to add a body kit to your type-S, I think the combo of rear & side A-spec + this Ronjon front lip is the best looking you can get.

As far as versions go, I am fine with either A or B...they both look awesome
