New radio

Okay hear me out. I have a 2006 Acura TL with navigation. I measured the navigation screen and it’s 7” wide and 4” high. My navigation screen has a black screen and doesn’t work. I would love Apple car play. What do y’all think about this unit? Is it possible to remove the navigation screen on the radio and add the Pioneer DMH-WC5700NEX? Will the Information Center dash still work? The Information Center Dash shows the time and AC thermostat.

Fortunately for you this has already been done for almost over 10 years now. Plenty of options when it comes to tablets, plenty of info already out there as to what's involved, pro's vs cons (yes your upper clock will no longer be accurate)

I actually just did this last summer on my 2008 TL-S. I think the 2006 should be similar enough.

If you're like me and want to keep the stock size and look rather than going tesla style, it is possible. It takes a bit of cutting and lengthening wires, but I was able to complete it in a couple days of work. Luckily for me, I was able to buy the longer climate control cables from another guy who had done this project and was getting rid of it.

I used the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX for my build and it fit great, has wireless and wired Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and the steering wheel controls still work. The only thing is that, yeah, the top clock will be inaccurate. All climate controls still work and display correctly.

Searching is your friend. Please see my below thread where I detail how I added a CarPlay unit:

If you want to jump to the part that addresses the installation layout, see here:
