New owner of a graphite 05 TL =)
Hi guys I am happy to announce I am now in possession of a 05 graphite TL! -gasp- i'm in...

no navi but do not really care for it, although if I do want an install how much will it run me in the future?
anyways I have driven many cars and i'm coming from my most recent car (95 gsr of 4 years) I have noticed that shifting from 1st to 2nd seems a bit jerky and not too smooth in the TL, other gears are fine (3-6-R) Do i just need time to adjust to it or could it be that a potential problem of tranny or motor mounts?
if there are any other details or things i should know let me know
thanks =)
can't edit post? well for now her name is Lexi
again F no edit
What should a bone stock TL come with?
I need to make sure the dealer has the manuals+pouch and an extra key
is there anything else i could be missing? thanks

graphite? you mean anthracite metallic. unless the car was repainted.
the 1-2 transition...you have to be nice to the throttle. it takes a bit of getting used to as many members have noted. give it some time and your 1-2 transitions should smooth out.
essentially brand new, the car comes with two sets of keys and key fobs (driver 1 and driver 2) and the one valet key. it also came with radio and navi codes with your owner's manual as well (these become valuable if you ever disconnect your battery).
i'm not sure what else you mean by "what comes with a bone stock TL." like what? features? wheels? options?
as for the navi conversion, maybe someone else could chime in on that one. i know there are threads on it in the audio/electronics section.

Congratulations.
First off, the color is called Anthracite (as in Anthracite Metallic). As for installing an OEM Nav down the road, don't even think about it. The Nav is hooked to so many things in the car. Just buy a Garmin or something similar. Make sure you have both keys and key FOBs, the valet key, and your wheel lock key. And yes, do make sure you have your owner's manual.
The most common reason for jerky shifts in the lowest gears is the fact that our clutch pedals have a relatively short travel and the takeup is even shorter. Along with this, the distance the pedal travels from initial engagement to where enough pressure is exerted by the pressure plate to get the car moving is also pretty short. Now add in the fact that the highest torque multiplication occurs in the lowest gears and you do have the makings of potentially jerky start offs and shifts in the first two gears.
Practice carefully and you'll get use to it but know that many people have had the same concerns as you as new owners of a 3G manual TL.

Congrats
Welcome to AZ! Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/myAcura...ToLoginPage.do in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.
Congrats on the new ride!
Regarding your 1-2 shifts, there are a few things that you can do to help with that. The first is to pick up an "engine torque damper". Excelerate Performance has one that fits 3G TLs. There tends to be a lot of movement in the engine bay in these cars - an ETD will help to tighten that up a bit without creating a lot of unwanted vibration. Another thing you can do is inspect your motor mounts for any cracking or leaking. If they're worn out, I'd suggest you get those replaced. For the motor mounts, you can go the OEM route or there are a couple of places that make aftermarket mounts for our cars, Excelerate being one of them.
Another thing that I did was I removed the check valve in the clutch slave cylinder. It'll give you a more solid engagement with the stock clutch. Check out the thread here for more information on that one.

Thanks everyone for info and warm welcome, i do appreciate how you guys have been helpful with links and information unlike some other forums =)
sorry about the graphite confusion (use to seeing that) it is Anthracite metallic
When i mentioned what it comes with bone stock i ment
3 keys and the manuals and (wondering if i had a first aid kit or anything else I may be missing because my trunk area on the right side has a empty spot the cargo tray doesn't cover.)
I will call the dealer later today to make sure they have the keys, manuals and anything else they may have in possession
modding will begin shortly and hopefully as soon as I can get some positive cash flow after the purchase =)
engine torque damper definitely appears to be a DO WANT it already sounds so nice and functional for the price.

The cargo tray in the trunk is cut out on the right-side because that's where the factory navi unit is mounted.
Another item to look for would be the big styrofoam 'donut' that fits inside the spare tire in the trunk. It should have things like the jack, tire iron and a couple of cargo nets that hook to the round plastic pegs mounted along the top, bottom and sides of the trunk.
Also, it is definitely possible to add the factory navigation to a non-navi car. I finished up my conversion over this past winter. If you shop around, you'll be looking at something in the neighborhood of $1000-$1200 for all of the parts (including wiring harness). It's not difficult to run the harness in the car, just time consuming. The one that I got off of ebay had all of the plugs and pins pre-wired so all I had to do was run it under some of the inside trim and route it up through the dash.
Make sure that they not only have the manuals, but also a business card sized piece of paper with the radio code on it. (It's usually in the owner's manual) It can be a hassle to call the dealer and get that.

Welcome aboard! =)
Not everyone knows their car's colour's name, genious =P
Most people on the street will say "my car's the red one" or "it's the black whip".
It'd be weird if you called your car colour's full name LOL

^ haha yeppp
and thanks for the new welcomes =)
i think the only things im missing so far are manuals, 2 keys and cargo nets
going to be doing a mid-muffler-resonator delete stage 2-4 not yet decided soon as it is a relatively cheapest mod to do

grats on the purchase!
you'll find the RPMs drop pretty slowly, especially for the 1-2 shift. Be patient with it as well. Other than that I find the TL a fun car to drive with a 6MT. the gear shift is notchy but fairly easy to move around and reminds me of those NASCAR arcade shifters lol. Short throws and clearly defined gates are pretty nice.
It takes a while to get used to the transmission. Once you do it's like any other car really..

if anyone has interest in the integra pm me =P just needs a repaint. Maintained it as best as I could after grabbing it from the previous owner.
day 3 debadged 1 side and deleted mid resonator and muffler that'll be all till i can save more money
@ez definitely do love the shifting feel, getting more use to it
thanks all

if there is an edit button i'd sure like to know =S
last but not least are there any problems regarding the 05 mt may have? or if so would i be better off not knowing
also how should i go about with tint? i hear that something in the doors may cause scratching of tint if done. the stripping to prevent the tint scratches will not work either as living in cali and the hot weather will melt the adhesive off getting it stuck inside the doors etc thanks
