New mod... real carbon fiber fuel door.

Picked this up off ebay last month... Took forever to get.

Hand laid carbon fiber over an OE replacement fuel door. Quality seems excellent. Our CF vendors (attn ua6spec) should make these for the community here. Fuel Doors are $21. Overlay some CF and sell em up.

Pics are crap, weather won't cooperate.

Looks good though. I like it. Someday I'll get the hood to match.

Wow, that's really just a CF decal? Looks like very high quality!

Where did you get the CF btw?

No... it's NOT a decal.

It's real carbon fiber overlayed and epoxied to a replacement fuel door.

I bought the finished product from a guy on ebay who seems to specialize in them... but I can't say I'd reccomend him. It took over 2months to receive AFTER payment.

Doesn't look half bad, having mixed feelings about it. I guess its something that grows on you. Doesn't look bad on white, Dunno how it would look on other cars. But as far as uniqueness its def. up there.

I had mixed feelings too... but it's grown on me too.

It matches all the other CF trim too. Window spoiler, Volk center caps, B pillar trim, and soon to be headlights.

Now to figure out where to put some CF trim in the taillights... and get those ua6spec a-spec overlays.

Ohh its real, shit no wonder it looks so high quality haha. I love the whole white and gunmetal/CF theme you got going on.

Ever thought about painting the hub the color of your rims or black?

Yeah quality seems good, just looks out of place without having any other Carbon Fiber on the body of the car.. Maybe becuase the pic is to close up?? would look really good with a carbon fiber trunk, or possibly a little spoiler underneath the A-Spec kit in the front too.. Just need some more to tie it together,,, nice though

The quality of the part looks nice. I think I'm with some of the others on here...not quite sure how I like it yet. Although, I think it would look great on a KBP w/CF theme going on.

I don't know Chris...Serious contrast right there. Can you post a full pic of the car? And yeah, the raw hub is fucking up a very nice set of wheels!

Probably looks better in person. My opinion is probably somewhat biased by the fact that I am not a CF junkie like you guys. To each his own, unique for sure...but I still like the interior of your car! Nice!

The CF details are there, see post above... Just can't see it under grey skies and in close up.

Roof will be painted black over the winter, I think that will really pop with it.

Weird, I was just goin to say that! Maybe a CF vinyl like the new M3's? That might come out to be ricey though Plus the headlights have CF too

Yep... Most definately doing paint. I'm going for CF accents, not CF 'wrapped'.

I remember someone suggesting that i order one of those for my car about 3 years ago but never did.

..we need some decent photos of your car...i think it looks good. Maybe you're waiting until you're all done modding or something before you get some good ones taken. Should look pretty stout if you paint the top black and a hood of some sort.

Hey Al, or better yet Fizzle (since you like being the guinea pig), get that from the Doc and try it out for us fellow NBP'ers! That's your mission should you choose to accept it!

looks alright, might look better with a photo in better weather. Have you thought of doing NPB or AM door handles along with the roof?

Not feeling it whatsoever. Those have been out on ebay for a few years at a minimum now and there is a reason they havent been selling. No gain...added weight....unneeded basically. Its just a looks thing. Not a major big deal....but kinda looks ricey IMO. Plus laminate CF is not the best situation out there....it tends to have issues eventually.

Kudos for trying something different though. If you like it....thats all that matters. No offense....just my opinion.

Door is clear coated with epoxy. It's as smooth as glass.

I can get some more full profile pics, but it won't do the car justice. It's cold outside, the car is filthy, and winter wheels go on in 2 days...

I still like it, and as damian said, if I grow tired of it, I can throw it on the BM... I'm not the only CF junkie out there.

Not sure how these have been on ebay for 3 years. I watch ebay regularly. This is the first of it's kind I've seen since I bought 2 years ago. I have seen the crappy sticker on ebay, but this is clearly different.

It is just an aestetic mod for sure... but what isn't. A spec lips, bit heavy 19" rims, and rear spoilers don't help performance either.

Dude.... rear spoilers are ALL about performance....

Adds 40% more downforce...

A-Spec lip spoiler actually does do something....take yours off, drive on the highway at speed and see the difference in handling. It does make the front end act more suitable at speed by helping direct wind flow....otherwise...the car tends to have a bit of a lift in the front at highway speeds (ok...little more than highway speeds frankly) I dont do 19" rims for just the reason you mention....and yes...these have been on ebay for at LEAST two years.

No offense Kennedy, I meant no disrespect really. Just stating MO. Like I said...if you like it thats all that truely matters!!!! It is unique.

Why would you want the front end of a front end drive vehicle to lift at highway speeds? This is quite the counter-intuitive statement.

Kennedy - Quality of the part looks good...just not feelin' it on the car. I understand what you're going for, overall, but I still don't think this will fit (at least to me). To each their own. Still looking forward to seeing progress pics of your car as it comes along.

JamminTL - a 19" wheel that weighs 19.2lbs or less will not decrease performance. Good luck finding one, though. I've yet to figure out why they can make a 17" wheel that weighs 14lbs and an 18" that weighs 16, but they can't make a 19" that weighs 17-18.

meh =/

mixed feelings.. neat because it's CF, but on a white car it looks like you have something unpainted on it.. Would look good on a darker colored car, but because there's no balance to it, it just seems kind of off I guess. =/

When is someone gonna make white CF ?!

Quick Reply: New mod... real carbon fiber fuel door.
