Talking New member with a new TL!

Evening, gents!

Just bought a 07 TL a couple months ago and have been reading through the forum for a few weeks now. Liked it enough that I thought I'd join and be a participant! Below is a pic of her.. got off work early and thought I'd give her a little scub. She's loving the Chicago sunshine!

Cheers, boys.

Thanks, guys. Here's the picture, I'll get more to put up soon.

Couple things I want to get done to it. Basically cosmetic (not very mechanically gifted but learning little by little).

1. Red lug nuts
2. Red Calipers
3. New tires (I drive a lot for work every day so they get worn out)
4. Wax

As far as the bodykit, I like it the way it is right now. Might do the a-spec down the road. I'd love to hear any suggestions.

I would stay away from the red caliper idea, just buy the RDX caliper cover and call it a day.

Yeah I agree with this. Red calipers and lug nuts would just look out of place on an otherwise stock car. The last thing you want to do is attract attention to those little stock calipers. Either do rdx covers, or simply clean them up and paint them black.
My opinion is just that....my opinion, but if that was my car I would spend money on a new set of quality tires (like you said you need), 35% tint all around to keep it classy and legal in IL, then spend a day and do a full clay bar and wax job and maybe some fluid changes and she will be good to go. Red lug nuts should be reserved for Civics and old Integras....atleast that's the first thing I think of when I see those kinda mods.
Congrats on the purchase, MRP TL's are sweet. I'm not biased though ;-)

that car is sweet bro. Congrats and welcome to Acura TL land. I don't know about red lug nuts my dude. Tint that bad boy out and put a rear lip spoiler and wash n wax.

Love the colour, I have always favored red cars but I wasn't lucky enough to find one locally. Looks good, I second everyone about the red lugs, but I DO like the red brake calipers idea. Did that on a few of my other cars. Silver or Black would also be other good options to paint them.

Painted calipers also help with cutting down the corrosion too so you can also look at it as a future precaution to prevent any rust, you know, put some use to that paint just in case anyone asks why you painted stock brakes lol :P

Thanks for the suggestions, gents. Maybe I'm second guessing the red calipers/lugs now haha. Window tints are a sweet idea. Not sure why I didn't think about that. A rear lip spoiler isn't a bad idea either. I'll look into it this weekend.

I also found the thread for the rdx covers so I might hit them up soon. Tires are a must for the winter, so that'll need a few hundo.

Overall, I like it the way it is for the most part. It looks clean and I feel comfortable riding it.

Quick question, though.. what PSI do you guys keep your tires at? I've read on here a lot of different things (+3 from recommended, etc.) but I wonder if you guys had any input.

Factory recommendation as per the sticker in your driver door jam is 35 front and 32 rear. I run factory specs plus a pound. So 36 front 33 year. No real particular reason I guess.
There have been a few guys here and there and even on this forum that insist on running at the tires max rated PSI. No clue why and in the thread regarding that he never clearly stated why he does that. Maybe he doesn't understand the difference between the terms maximum and recommended lol.

I stick around 36 all around. Usually in the am they will be around 34-35 and by the afternoon when it heats up they around 36-37. I read somewhere that your tire pressure will increase 1 lb for every 10 degree increase in outside temp (and vice versa). Also, they have the ability to increase another 2-3 lbs while driving after a while.

Mine are usually between 36-37 after use. Just wanted to make sure since I drive so damn much. Might have to start riding to work instead... 22mpg doesn't cut it with these gas prices... but 60mpg on my bike when I drive 50 miles a day - now that's some milage.

Congrats on the new car. Red is one of my two favorite colors on a TL. And it's good to see somebody else on here who isn't interested in lowering. Not that there's anything wrong with it but it seems that everybody who makes an "I Just Got My TL" thread announces that they are planning to lower. IMO, I think the TL looks great bone stock. But like somebody else said, tint that bad boy!

Congrats on the new ride! If you're thinking about doing the a-spec kit, better get it now as the kit is becoming more difficult to get in certain colors.

Thanks, fellas. Definitely don't want it lowered, especially with Chicago winters and potholes. As for the aspec kit, don't have the cash to throw around right now - probably looking to get it in the fall. I'm looking for a few places online to get the tints and I've found a few places. What's a reasonable amount to pay for tints all around? So far I've gotten a quote for about $120..

Just got one a few months ago as well and I love it more and more every day. It's such a huge difference from my previous car. I agree with others here, tint it! Congrats on your purchase!!

I paid a little over $300 to get mine tinted all around. I'm not sure if that's too high of a price but that seems to be the going rate of a reputable company in my area. There are a few in the below $200 range but their work isn't the best.

I paid $270 for 5% all around, that being done with removal of old 35% tint and reapply the new tint.
