"New" Member!

Hello everyone,
This is my first post since I joined Azine back in December. At that time, I bought a beautiful, and in great condition, CPO 07 ASM AT TL Navi with 50,450 kms (31,350 miles). I previously owned a '96 Black Accord Coupe Manual, which I bought new when I lived in the Kansas City area (I live in Toronto now). I loved the Accord, and never had any issues (143,300 miles when sold), apart from the regular maintainance items (I even had the original clutch).
In any case, I really love the TL. I think it's an amazing car with beautiful lines.
I've learned a lot about the car from this forum, and some of the very knowledgeble people here.
One thing that has been worrying me for some time are all these automatic transmission failure/issues discussions.
I felt relieved to know that that the 07/08 TL's have a different transmission (based on the 2nd Gen RL's) than the 04-06 TL's. However, I still see that some people have issues, and do the pressure switches, 3X3 ATF changes and all that, as a prevention or fix, if the have problems already.
So I decided to get an ATF drain and fill at the dealer in a couple of weeks, and plan to do it every 6 months or so. I currently drive 6,000 kms (3,570 miles) a year on average.
My other worry, is to keep the leather in the best condition possible, so I'm getting the Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner, and apply it periodically (maybe once or twice a month).
My 3rd worry, although not so much since I live in a northern climate is the cracking dashboards. I keep a windshield cover on sunny days (winter or summer).
Apart from these issues, I am really enjoying the car (and this forum).

Well, I'd like to get an A-Spec kit, although I prefer the 04-06 front lip better than the 07/08. I think it looks better. I wonder if a modified 04-06 lip can fit a 07/08 car (to accomodate the fog lights, of course).

Welcome to the ASM club!

I agree, I do like the 04-06 lip better because of the grayish tips on each end. I believe I've seen this been done. One downfall is the lip and rear are discontinued in ASM color. You would have to get it in another color and have it repainted.

I believe that ASM doesn't available in 07-08 but 04-06 might still available for purchase.

So I got the A3 service done at Downtown Acura (Toronto) last Thursday. I currently have 34,730 miles. It seems like I'll be doing it once a year, since, as I pointed out earlier, I am averaging 3,750 miles a year. A little bit of an overkill, but I want to keep any transmission issues at bay. Last week I got my Lexol cleaner and conditioner delivered. Hopefully, I'll get some free time this coming weekend to work on the leather seats (right before it starts getting cold around here).

Welcome! I have an ASM TL as well, but an 06 model. It's a sweet car, just wished I could have gotten the Type-S then my life would be complete. Haha jk Anyways, your car looks super clean.

Thanks. I registered my TL a while ago. I think I saw your recommendation to a new member back then.
Yes, on the second photo that is just a shadow.
