Hello Acurazine,

I recently purchased a 2004 Acura TL A-Spec and figured I'd join the Acurazine community.

I'm 17 and I have to pay for everything on my own so mods are coming, slowly but surely.

I'm currently in the process of doing an audio makeover which will include

1 12" Jl audio w7
1 Alpine MRP-1000 watt amp
JL audio c2 650 components
JL audio jl 320.4 channel amplifier
Kinetik HC 600
JL audio cleansweep
and a buttload of dynamat in the trunk, i've already done that. lol PITA

I'm here for advice and any other comments you may have, pictures will be up once I can post them,

Jeff

Welcome to the Acura Family. You don't like the Dolby 5.1? Upgrade the center speaker too with a 2-way 3.5-4in driver. I'm upgrading my system too but more of an enhancement. The ELS stereo is a lot of work. I did all you're doing minus the clean-sweep in my 8th gen accord. Most clean sweep owners removed them and used the Audio Control LC7 that i was smart enough to do from the start . Have fun. My money is going towards mods that give me more power and mpg and wheels/suspension. Things than make you smile while driving.

Post pix soon. If you'd like the pix enhanced/cleaned up before posting, feel free to email them to me if you like. parasurfer1979@gmail.com

the quote button is on the bottom right of each post. if you want to quote multiple people, you just click on that green button next to it, it'll turn red for each person you select.

what position do you play? i was free safety WAY back in the day. good times.

yeah i wish mine was a 6speed too, but the sport shift is fun too! enjoy it!

ParaSurfer1979,

I LOVE the 5.1, dont get me wrong.. but I've grown up around crazy systems all of my life, my TL came with LOC's, a JL slash series 250/1 and 2 JL 10's but that isnt enough punch for me. But believe me I've been researching ALOT about the ELS system and bypassing them amp, etc etc.. I believe the cleansweep is better for my application, also given the added auxiliary port for my ipod(all i listen too)

but like i said im very open to suggestions, what are some advantages to the LC7, ive read about it but never actually read in depth about it, I'm very careful with my money and always buy the best products, feel free to blab away about it, IM ALL EARS.

also, about the center speaker, what would you reccomend as a good replacement? ive heard about people boring the hole to fit a 4 in. speaker?

i wish i had the money to drop it and pick up some rotas or something, but being a student/football player/work.. no time for anything

I wouldn't sell your stock rims for the fact that you might want to put them on in the winter to save your aftermarket wheels, plus the a-spec's are nice, might just wanna get them redone! Just a thought

Noooooooooo! Those wheels were ONLY made in 2004. Keep them!

I have a 12" Alpine Type-R wired up to a Rockford Fosgate 550/2. Nothing fancy but it's plenty.

Hell no. Search for wheel repair or powdercoating in your area. I just had my A-Specs redone and they look brand new!

Congrats and welcome to AZ Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.

Depends if you want them painted or powdercoated. I had mine powdercoated for a durable and long lasting finish. It depends on the shop, but if you go the powdercoating route you'll be looking at about $300-500 for all 4 wheels to be sandblasted down to the bare metal, curb rash fixed, and powdercoated. I paid $350 for mine but I got a break on the price. I can't give you a price on paint because I've never had my wheels painted.

Works > Rotas. Do it right the first time around and get a set of high-quality brand name wheels. They aren't cheap but worth the price imo. One day I'll have the A-Specs as winter wheels and a set of Works or Volks during the summer.

They will DEFINITELY be getting powdercoated, painting rims is a joke, it'll flake off so fast you won't know what happened, Ive had my motocross frames powdercoated and they get abuuuuused, rocks, dirt, etc. 5 years later, still looks close to new. but $300-$500, not bad at all.

Just out of curiosity how do they fill in the curb rash scratches/grooves?

I'll probably end up going the same route as you man, i love volks, they're stupid expensive, but literally, the definition of sex on wheels, i saw this the other day on my way home from work.
