New here, interested in buying!

Hey everyone. New here.

So, long story - short: I was driving a 2012 Genesis sedan until a week and a half ago when it was totaled (sigh). Insurance is paying off the car but I'm going to have to start fresh soon. I've always really liked the 3rd gen TL's over the years but am overall new to the platform. I've looked around my area (within ~75 miles) and found a few of them, but not sure about pricing, high mileage maintenance, etc.

The few examples that I found over the last couple of days are:
08 Type-S w/ 130k (4 owners and a really sparse service history on Carfax) - $10,000
08 w/ Nav w/ 95k (1 owner, decent service history from what I can tell) - $11,000
08 Base w/ 77k (2 owners, again - decent service history as per Carfax) - $11,000

Are these prices good? Too high? Honestly, any input would be greatly appreciated. I just want to know the ins and outs before I pull the trigger and finance one.

Thank you!

-Jeremy

if the Type-S is a 6MT, yes.
most of these prices seem a bit high considering the age at this point

All of them are auto. I'm wondering if it is just the area that I'm in (Winston Salem, NC). Even when I was looking into other models of cars over the last week, other forums seem to be pointing out higher than average prices unfortunately. What are more "suitable" prices to look for if I try to broaden my search or am able to possibly haggle any prices down?

IMHO, all the prices are too damn high.

Expand your search so you get a better idea of what's out there and price points.
Then we'll talk.

Too pricey. I see you’re sticking to the 07-08 which is good!

in Cali people try to price their TL-S for a crazy amount as well.

Forums are full of folks who have been intune with the market for years. Unfortunately this causes issues in today's auto climate. Used cars have gone up in price after COVID-19 and the economy is not helping folks buy new cars:

Cars at the auction have risen in price since there isn't a large supply of used cars but high demand, therefore dealers charge more and values go up. There are car's with over 200K miles selling for over 5K every week which is insane.

Being that you're in NC you may have a little luck with finding a TL in your area through AcuraZine if you're patient. Seems like there are a good deal of Carolina members here.

Just don’t buy the KBP 6MT from Winston of Long Island, NY. He will ghost you after you buy two non-refundable plane tickets to buy the car.

Didnt place the eggs/avocado my wife makes everyday onto the backing of the seat and it spilled. Scooped it back into the plate to eat in the car when I get to work. Used masks as napkins. Exciting morning, how is y’alls?

I know the prices have been beaten to death, however the 3rd gen TL is still one of the most desirable vehicles especially if it's a 6MT and more so with the A-spec kit. Certain older vehicles are going up in prices. For the current 3rd gen owners, this should be of no surprise and it only helps if you sell. I always said, I wouldn't sell my TL a penny less than 15K. As these vehicles get older, it's harder to find well kept, clean ones, especially in a 6MT.
