New Guy, Charlotte NC.
Hey All,
I'm Stephen from Charlotte, NC. I'm 23 years old, Employed at Lexus, Part time at Advanced Auto parts, and I run my own Business. I am an avid enthusiast of everything Vehicle related. Primarily the 1989-1999 Ford Taurus SHOs with the Yamaha Designed engines. I have a 92 that is being converted to a Track Car.
Been reading stuff on this forum for the last year or so here and there. Now I'm on it every other day reading.
I've got a 2008 UA6, 5AT NBP TL. Decided to be fun and call her Maria.
I bought her a year ago from Griffin Buick GMC dealership in Monroe originally for my now Ex-Girlfriend/Fiance. After she started treated me like dirt and taking things for granted, sent her packing and kept the car. I worked at the time across the street at the Discount Tire Company. Saw her (maria) the day she came in. Watched her sit and be moved around. I originally went in to inquire about the Pontiac G8 GT in Pearl White sitting on the lot that was to die for. But after they were reluctant to do any negotiating, I walked. I then though about the TL, did some research and went back and talked them down. I knew the car had been there a while and knew they wanted it gone.
Long story short, talked them down about $4,500k from the ridiculous price with 92k miles on the clock and the car looking absolutely flawless. Most of the reason they negotiated well with me was because of the amount of Business I sent them. Discount Tire does not do Alignments, so I sent them across the street to the dealership. So they 'returned the favor'.
After one day of ownership, the problems started. Car drove solid on the test drive, but after that, it all went south. Found out the salesman lied through is teeth about it. It was after I had gone to Acura the day after to get a key made.
-Car fax said the car had been with 2 Florida Owners. One Repo. Strike 1.
-Oil Sticker in the window was 1,000 miles away from an oilchange. Strike 2.
-Acura did a full inspection when they programmed the key. Strike 3.
Acura found:
-2 'repaired' Motor mounts that were essentially JB Welded Together.
-The Recalled P/S Issue was fixed, but the pump was leaking.
-The car had been in a major front end collision. Car Fax was false.
-Fenders, Hood, Headlights, and Radiator support forward was all depo parts.
- The car has been repainted improperly. Car is Rock chipped quite nicely.
It was stated in the contract that I could not turn it back in or essentially get out of the deal. My Lawyer looked it over.
Long story short, everything was repaired, Oil change done. New Tire of my choice put on, Sales man got fired for fraud, and the Dealership got a major rip in the tail from the regional GM Office. Now I've got a car that is in decent shape.
Since then I have taken very good care of her. Doing little things, but mostly enjoying the driving experience and the ownership of my car. My parents helped me through High School and College with Cars. But this Acura is 100% my responsibility.
Some of you may ask about the business I run. I run an Automotive Network in Charlotte, NC called Charlotte Cruise Ins. (CCI) I network events and gatherings for car lovers alike. Anywhere from grandma's station wagons, to Underground Racings 1500hp Lamborghini's. I know almost everyone in the City.

I'd like to host an Acurazine event in the future. But we will see.
Looking forward to learning alot and taking care of this girl for the next 6 years or so.
Thanks!
-Stephen

Welcome! Glad to see another Charlotte member. I put in for my transfer yesterday so I hope to be there sometime in July provided everything goes through. I can't wait to attend some of the meets there and meet some locals.

Welcome aboard and congrats! You mentioned that you bought "Maria" a year ago with 92K on the odometer. Just bear in mind you are probably due for the 105K service (Timing Belt and other things) and it is going to cost you a few $$.

I can tell you one thing, if that timing belt snap you will have bent valves and hole in the piston. Yes its interference motor.
