New to forum and just bought '08 tl type s (nhb)

I had a '04 tsx and have been trying to hold out until the new tsx or tl came out.

After the disappointing intro of the RL...
The very disappointing news of the new tsx (my dealer told me that the acura rep stopped by and said that there will not be a type-s/no awd, just the diesel within the next year)...
The even more so disappointing news that there was not going to be a type S '09...

I BOUGHT MY NEW BABY!

Any suggestions on mods that won't null my extended warranty?

not exactly sure, but all mods will void the warranty if it is that mod that broke whatever it is. Unless of course you get acura mods ala A-Spec

Welcome to the forum!
Like mentioned before, any mod (unless dealer installed) can void whatever part the mod messes up!

Happy modding!!

ofcourse there wouldnt be a type s for the intro...they usually like to wait until the end of the cycle to introduce a type s...sort of like a mid cycle refresh....acura is smart like that....

Welcome and congratulations.

"Do not attempt to adjust your TL, there is nothing wrong." (Sorry, I couldn't resist the play on your user ID).

What types of mods are you considering? I haven't done anything other than appearance based mods yet, which shouldn't affect warranty. I'm waiting to see the '09 before I go for the mechanical stuff. Don't want to mod this just to get rid of it.

Oh, and I love the user ID. Now I got it stuck in my head and can't get rid of it.....which ain't a bad thing at all!

CONGRATS on your new TL Type S!! Nice. I picked up my CBP Type S in December (LEASED IT) and I was bitten by the mod bug after I got it, too!
I ordered the Type S A-Spec body kit, it should be at the dealer today or Monday, that will look GREAT I think! (I bought it from John Eagle Acura in Houston, ask for Stephen Bradburn) $775 shipped to your door OR your local Acura dealer........great price!!
**Best easy/cheap mod you ask? TheProgress 24mm RSB (rear sway bar), for sure!! WOW. I am really pushing this to ALL TL owners.......it sharpens up your cornering/handling like 110%!! It really helped my Type S and took about 1 hour under the car to install it, not bad.
**Look into the 2 piece Carbon Fiber Trim Kit for the CENTER Counsole (around seat heaters & cup holders) it is not too expensive (get from Ebay or dealer) and looks GREAT! It matches ALL the stock Carbon Fiber pieces on the Type S already.
**Next, junk the stock Michelin tires.......those are CRAP tires! I am gonna run mine for about 5,000 miles then get some REAL tires!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Congrats on the new Type S pphunck!

VegasRPh, great input on the sway bars. I have traditionally been against modding for cost reasons, but I would like to reduce body roll on my Type-S. I never realized (although I hadn't really researched it too much yet) that such a cheap/simple solution could make such a difference. I just saw the Progress rear sway bar is ~$140 and you installed it in about an hour? $140 + 1 hour of my time is a little enough cost that I may just go for it (based on how enthusiastic you are about it).

I noticed you modded your car even though it's leased. How does that work? Are you just going to pull off your mods if you don't buy it at lease end?

Hey anansi, weren't we supposed to meet for lunch sometime in Reston, VA?

TSX diesel?!?! First I'm hearing of that...

"Do not attempt to adjust your TL, there is nothing wrong." (Sorry, I couldn't resist the play on your user ID)...LOL Anansi!

Thanks for all the replies. I will start a pic thread soon. The RSB sounds like a good idea, btw does acura make one or do i go with an aftermarket?

So ANY MOD that does NOT cause the problem is a go?

I know one service manager at a different acura dealer but i guess ive gotta make some friends @ the dealer i bought my baby from. Gonna stop by there today to see what mods they offer.

What is a spacer that ive read about it many posts?

Cost efficient HP increase = ?

Where does everyone get their parts if not thru acura?

Thanks again for the replies and suggestions!

Congrats...

Modding is all in how different you tryin to be. Some people gonna say "don't Mod" Others gonna be like "Why Havent you modded it yet..."

From experience, if you nice to the service manager, you not gonna have problems with any warranty claims, also in theory they gotta prove your mod resulted in the problem at hand....

If you lookin at RSBs, go with Progress RSB. Excelerate is the man to talk to in this forum

I feel so dumb askin this, but what color is nhb?

No I am gonna leave the Progress RSB on the car when I turn it in.......some lucky person is gonna get a sweet handling TL Type S when I turn it in from lease in Dec 2010.
The A-Spec kit I am putting on will end up running me $1,000 or so (kit + install) and it will be left on the car, too. I just want to ENJOY driving it for next 36 months while I have it!!
The stock RSB is 20mm, so going to a 24mm RSB is a HUGE improvement!! Plus you can ADJUST it from STREET to TRACK in about 15 minutes under the car.
Yeah, $130 - $140 is a BARGAIN for this part!! WELL WORTH IT!!

***The Type S from the factory is not perfect, but damn close........some little mods here and there do wonders for the Type S..........the RSB is great.......now I need some REAL SUMMER TIRES (stock Michelins are junk) to go along with it!!

If you contact Tim @ hondacuraworld, he can do alot better than $1000 for the A-SPEC kit. He is a vendor on this site. There's also DIY instructions on this site.

IMHO- keep the old parts and when the lease is up, pull that kit off and sell it on the Black Market here.

It was $775 shipped.

I am paying $300 to have it installed.

Why bother taking it off after the lease is up? How in the world would I ship those HUGE pieces? I guess I could, but to me it's not worth the hassle. Plus what could I get for them once the body kit is USED for 3 years? $100? $200?
