have them look at their work.
Most people have no clue until they start to dive into the engine...
so, it would be best to get your mechanic who did the timing belt last month to check it out

none of our troubleshooting tips will help you because your knowledge of car mechanics is slim.
That's not a knock on you. It's just very hard to walk you through if you don't have basic knowledge.
Take the car to a mechanic.

but it doesnt give me confidence that you know how to diagnose/troubleshoot whatever may be going on with your car...
you gotta take it in...take it to a mechanic and ask what the noise is. they will dive in and figure it out for you

sounds like your timing belt tensioner or a worn out camshaft. as stated before you have to have a decent amount of mechanical knowledge for us to try and help. you would be better off taking it to same mechanic or another reputable mechanic. timing belt tensioners should be replaced when you replace the timing belt, and the mechanic could have, but, quality matters. when parts cost a quarter of the price than the OE you know you are only getting a quarter of the quality
