New Dude with 2007 TL needs advice

I just bought an Acura TL 2007 146,000.... I plan on doing some tune ups before I start making trips...I dont know how often the previous owner did maintenance but shes running really good...I need to know everything there's needed to know to run this baby a couple miles... Plus i want to make some mods done.....Let me know what you guys recommend for starters..I know the timing belt water pump and head gaskets will be replaced.. Im really concerned about keeping the tranny running. The car drives like a champ no check lights nothing ...

Welcome to the forums.

The following is posted at the top of the New Member Introductions forum: Welcome! Please introduce yourselves here, BUT ASK FOR HELP IN THE TECHNICAL FORUMS

Since this is a topic/technical issue which will require replies and discussion, and not an introduction, this thread has been moved to the model specific forum.

Why head gaskets; they should be good for an easy half-million miles?

Transmission should be fine with regular fluid 3 x changes. The 07 transmissions were much better than 99-06. Hopefully the previous owner did the fluids at least a couple of times prior.
Check the usual suspects, Power steering pump/O ring, motor mounts, rear calipers, oil pump leak. Should be a great car for many more miles....congrats!

Looking at the pics I would take it to a shop or maybe even Acura to look it over. Looks like it's been hit and resprayed. No telling what issues you may have underneath the body. Did you get a good deal on it?

I just cleaned ! No accidents showned on carfax when I completed it. I will definitely take it to Acura just for regular health check. Then back to my regular mechanic...Thanks

Do you know a specific site to purchase OEM parts or similar. Still looking for a site with good parts at a great price. Thanks

Again....why do you think the head gaskets need to be replaced? That is not a normal maintenance item on this engine. The gaskets that "should" be changed during the TB service would be the main seal, camshaft gaskets, and possibly something around the oil pump. Nothing to do with the head gaskets.

I assume @CROWN GYC, had tongue firmly implanted in cheek when that post was written.

Hoping so...just never know these days. Want to make sure they are on the right track and not chasing things that aren't usually a problem.

I’m not seeing where you are saying it looks like it’s been hit. Where exactly are you looking? Not being rude, I just don’t see what you’re seeing.

Might wanna check out my YouTube page as I own my TL for 199K now and it’s still running strong. These cars are really built good if you take care of them. Meaning 93 premium from top tier, Oil change on time synthetic of course and most important transmission fluid. I would do it every 40-60K. I made a video on how to do it as well as what fluids to use. I just did my brake light mod and a video on conversion to the type s look from the front. I break it down and help people
do it themselves as it cost a lot of money to pay a mechanic or even a dealer. I trust my car with Acura more than any mechanic. I trust my car the most with myself

If you’re having any issues post it here, this community is the best at helping members find answers to their problems.

One free tip if you’re getting the tighten fuel cap message it’s because of the purge Evap. Replace it and it’s like $30 bucks. Check out YouTube for that or here for a thread.

I did a video on the valve cover gasket as well so you can check that out too

My channel is below and once again welcome!

Just to share a couple tips, I've found some good deals at https://www.acurapartsforless.com/. And I recommend a Sylvania Headlight Lens restore kit to quickly get the headlights looking good as new again.
