New Car Delivery

Just curious but did anyone have an inside delivery of the 04 TL. I had my delivery outside in the evening (only time convenient) and it was tough because the lighting wasn't the best and the weather was just OK. It made a visual inspection tough. I wished they had an inside delivery. The salesperson did say, however, that the dealer was planning to "look into it".

I was wondering how Canadian dealers and others in northern climates deliver autos, particularly in the cold and snow during the winter months?

Thanks for any comments.

When I picked up my 2001 Saab 9-3 SE Vert, the dealer had a special area in their "car detailing" center where it was well lit and inside so that we could spend an hour or so going over all the details.

One of our dealers here in Indy said they do the same whenever a new customer picks up a car. After all, in inclement weather (when it's around) you almost hate to pull the detailed car out into the weather, especially if the customer isn't there yet to pick up their car.

So, I feel the inside delivery is a must in crappy conditions or poor lit areas. If it's SoCal in December and it's daylight, give me the outside though.

I am the internet sales manager here at Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. I have had to deliver vehicles in the snow and rain outside. I understand your concern because you can not see any defects in the darkness that you would be able to in the day. My suggestion to anyone picking up a vehicle at night is to ask your salesperson to drive the vehicle in the service lane. If your dealership has 2 or more lanes (like ours) it shouldn't be a problem.

When I picked up my TL the dealer had the car in the showroom waiting for me after it was prepped. Very nice touch, especially since it was raining.

Question Isn't that's what service lanes are for?

Of the last four cars I've picked up from dealerships, every one of them has been held for me in a service bay after detailing. Granted they were Benz, BMW and Lexus but heck, two of them were USED cars. The Acura salesguy even drove one of the Antracites into the service lanes for me when I was looking at the cars (was cold outside and getting pretty dark. Was trying to decide if the color was OK or not).

My 2004 TL was delivered in the showroom, in the evening. Sales person spent quite a bit of time going over every control, under hood items (not many) and trunk - only thing he didn't do was explain how the cargo net is attached....

Good job by Acura of Auburn MA.

My last four cars (Acura CL, Audi S4, Acura TSX & Acura TL) delivery was done inside in a specific area just for deliveries.
