New Car Advice.

Hello Guys

I used to own a 2000 TL till about last sat. I had a bad crash on Sat, I hydroplaned and ended up totalling my car.

Well, now I am back in the market shopping for another ride. To be honest, I have never looked at any other car, other than TLs. But now I am also considering a BMW 5 series and a GS 400/430. I think the new TL is HOT. But I have always been disappointed with the paint quality on my TL. I was wondering how is the new TL's paint quality? Is it better now or is it still that thin coating like they used to have for the 2000 model.

Also is there anythign that you guys dont like in the 2005/2005 TL with navi

Please advise.

thanks all

The paint quality sucks. I've had my 04 6MT Non-navi for 3 months now (I bought it CPO) and have three small paint chips on the hood. Under normal conditions they are hard to see, but I wash the car myself because I want it done right and every time I dry it they anger me.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you weren't injured!

I went from a 2002 Nissan Maxima to my '05 TL 6MT (NBP). The paint on the TL is much better than the Maxima! I never owned a 2000 TL so I can't make an honest comparison. I did invest in a clear bra for the front of my car so there are no chips after nine months of ownership.

It's not really fair to compare a TL with a BMW 5 series or GS300/430 as they are in a totally different class than the TL. I would recommend taking a look at the Infiniti M45 as it's a direct competitor with the 5 series and GS series. I took one for a test drive and it was VERY impressive! If I had the money, that's what I would have bought instead of my TL.

for the 5 series, E39 looks great but E60's fugly.
They are very high maintenance. You need to factor that in as well.

GS400/430 are great cars if you can afford them. It's kinda hard to find a used low-mileage GS4xx though.

thanks

Yeap not a thing happened to me.. not even a whiplash, which I think is pretty lucky for a 65MPH crash. Thanks you all for your input, I see your point. TL def is the best bang for the buck, except the shitty paint job, which I still wonder why they do like that.

But honestly those 2003 530i and 540i are sooo freaking tempting
